hi, need some help, i just had an 2.5" xforce exhaust system fitted - part number em-hv20 from an exhaust joint on the gold coast. it was brought for $500 plus $100 labour. I discussed with the guy that i wanted an xforce system from the cat back. Now only fitted today I have found it doesn't have the rear muffler section. It just has straight through pipes with the crome tips and is loud as hell. too loud. The pictures that i have seen with the xforce system show three resignators. Do you think i should of got the back resighnator put on for that price? I am going to try to get him to put it on tomorrow but i think he will charge me more. Is this a fair price for the work he has done? Or am i just being i tight ass?
help me!!! haha
hey mate,
Id ask him to put the rear resonator on and hopefully he puts it on for free, I have a rear resonator on mine and i think that its loud enough so to have straight through pipes...geez!
I payed $520 installed.

FWIW, I purchased the rear resinator by itself for $150 the other month.
hate to say it matey but you got robbed. just did a quick search for you & top price is $370 for the x-force system.
secondly, this system comes as two parts- em-hv20a & em-hv20b. chances are hes only stuck the front section on which is em-hv20a. where for the money he charged you it should have been both parts. a majority of muffler shops dont say its a 2 part system & will just class it as em-hv20 but still supply/sell you both the a & b sections. next question is did he give you a written quote, even on a business card or anything? by law he is obligated to do & charge what is quoted,if anything extra is needed they have to tell you before they do it,if they dont you dont have to pay for it. if you go back to collect your car & its more expensive than your quote, you dont have to pay anymore than your quote unless you have been contacted & agreed to the price change. this is how it is & always has been for as long as i have been floating around in the trade. obviously simple things like a hose clamp or a washer may be needed & charged but sometimes a workshop will absorb this minor cost.
if you have no written quote then it gets tricky, because then its a verbal agreement. most decent shops will stand by what they say, some wont.
all you can do is go in there & ask where the rest of your exhaust is,i personally wouldnt have taken the vehicle away or payed them until they had done what they have said they would. by doing this (to them anyway)you have agreed to the work done & paid accordingly.
so now you have to decide wether to do the nicey nicey aproach about this,or go in there & rip them a new bumhole![]()
$370 for a V8 cat back??? the lowest price i got was $520 installed and i got about 6 different quotes from well known and respected performance shops.

robbed man. I got a custom made 2.5" Catback system, no resonator, fitted for $250. Sounds beefy as and nice and loud when you want it to be. $600 for catback? that's f**ked
well,i could be reading it wrong or going blind but, heres the link if you all wanta looky at it.. these guys also post aus wide via tnt, include all bolts & gaskets. can also supply it in stainless steel for $470. $370 is for a mild steel. theres even a little note say this exhaust isnt for road use,lol
i found this place on first search,so for all i know there may be even cheaper places out there somewhere
fitting an exhaust system is a piece of cake as long as you dont have to weld anything like cats in. my thought is why pay someone to do something when with a bit of time & effort you can do it yourself
Best Mufflers the Muffler and Exhaust Specialists
I have a 2.25 inch x force catback with mufflers on my VZ v6 calais (which is the same exhaust as a V8). it cost me $350 supplied and fitted with chrome tips
glad you agree do it yourself is the only way to go.
the bloke who started this little story/thread paid $600 including fitting & only got half a system. which just shows there are some shonky people out there, which is why if you can do it yourself or figure out how to do something yourself your better off in the end doing it yourself.
i mean, theres nothing like standing back & looking at something with satisfaction knowing you did that(even if you stuff it up,you still stand there with a grin, saying bugger me i did that, lol. at $400-$500 for the exhaust including fitting if you cant do it yourself thats fairly reasonable. i still wouldnt pay that much though
I've got a Twin 2.5" catback system with twin straight through mufflers and a small straight through rear resinator and chrome tips,
its not loud enough at all for me!!!!
Anyone know what i can do its wayy too for my liking lol.
Thanks

big 4-1 extractors and high flow cats will make it a bit louder and sound a hell of a lot better
Take the rear resonator off and put hotdog mufflers on so it dont drone like crazy.
