Default bonnet jammed shut (yes i have searched, but my problem seems to be unique)

    Hey guys,
Sorry a common problem as I have read, but in researching how to fix this, no one has seemed to have the same exact problem.

Initially, when I pulled the release level, it would pull to far and the wire would sit behind the opening rim of the pin hole, and then when i tried to close, it wouldnt (acting as if i had just pulled the lever, waiting to be opened)
so each time i had to dig it out, then it would close shut.

Anyway as I had gotten sick of this, after opening the bonnet last time (about a week ago) I came inside to google the problem and left the bonnet open with the wire still sitting behind the rim of the hole, got invested in looking for the problem I forgot all about it, anyway 2 hours later, the bonnet stuts gave up and the bonnet slamed shut with the wire still stuck.

So now the bonnet string/wire is loose, because its all ready retracted and stuck.

But to picture the problem I have, forget about the bonnet wire, this just seems the bonnet pin is jammed, and i cant get to it. I read on earlier models to try get to the tip and screw it, but I cant on the VX. i tried to dig a screw driver amongst the pin to gain leverage to make it jump, but it didnt.
Crash repairer I went to said I have to take the bumper off, but he said if he does it, he cant take responsibility if he damages it???
Should I try take the bumper off to get to the tip of the pin? Is it the only solution?

    Any tips would be great!

I had a bonnet wire break on a car, I ended up sticking my hand up in the bumper and unbolting the latch, not sure if you can get to it in a commodore tho. Otherwise you will have to take the bumper off.

I think you will have some trouble getting the bumper off as the three bolts at the top will be under the bonnet. Maybe if you just undo the scrivets at the bottom of the bumper and then undo the screws on each side, pull the bumper away from the guards and lift or pull the bottom of the bumper forward. Doing this may give you access to the cable or the screwdriver slot in the pilot pin. The pilot pin is the cone headed bolt that engages in the locking mechanism. Unscrewing it will release the bonnet. There may be easier ways but I have not learned them yet.

try releasing the other end of the spring that holds the bonnett pin down , bonnett release cable is attached to one end of this spring and the other hooks into the radiator support panel , i haved used this method on many commodores from vb thru to vs , not 100% sure if it works on a vt thou

ok i have found a pic of the release spring and where it hooks to the panel , by unhooking this spring end you can release the bonnet .

I have worked out why this is so hard. I have a transcooler in the way, which was just an option with the tow pack, or with supercharged models.
Anyone else with a trans cooler, know how to get it off? I can get the bottom screws off easy, but not the top ones.
    Damn this sucks.
