you can get a vx garnish which is just the body colour to replace the vt one... you will need to get some vx rear lights or aftermarket lights, as when you replace the garnish you will lose reverse lights

    hope this helps

    cheers

ah yeah mate, in that case, if you want to get rid of the vt garnish on the boot, just grab one off a vx. personally i think that the led lights look horrible with the original vt rear garnish, so maybe the vx one is the way to go?

as far as i know, its just a simple exchange between the two

    cheers

despite people telling you tripping balls, fkd up dreams etc,you may not be. what happens is the sun has a tendency to fade the red in the garnish. it happens alot in vn-vs commodores due to their age. just not so common with a vt but,i have seen it. my guess the buggers seen alot of weather which is why its faded & appears to be clear. this will be the true reason why its clear & i dont think anyone will disagree. if it was a vx garnish as has been suggested it still wouldnt clear.

i didnt necessarily say it was a vx garnish... he was chatting about possibly buying one, so i suggested a vx one.
i have seen heaps of vns and vps with faded garnishes so i know what you mean... but also with the vns, i have seen ones with clear tail lights, so could they maybe do the same for a vt tail light?

    cheers

its mainly supply & demand sort of thing. if nobody wants something it wont be done. in the case of a vt a majority of people either replace the vt garnish with a vx one & have it colour coded, get their garnish tinted darker, paint them(yes, some do it as a cheap option) or replace them with other versions such as calais, clubsport or the chevrolet version.

If you get the vx garnish you will need the vx lights as well. if it works out to expensive, get the vx lights & just paint your vt garnsh to your cars colour

he doesnt need them hes got the Altezza tail lights already.

Painting the VT is only marginally cheaper only coz u dont need a buy a VX garnish. IMO the VT garnish painted suits the shape of the VT's curves much better but u gotta get it preped properly u cant just paint over it as u'll still see the lines through the paint from the reverse lights and even in most cases u can see the word holden inprinted on the garnish also. Shaving and some bog n knifing putty fixes that. The VX garnish shape belongs with the VY,VZ's.

you could probably get it painted up properly for 50 bucks. average price of vx garnish used 100 bucks

Just a shot in the dark but you may have seen a vt with a vx berlina/Calais garnish on it. That would be the garnish with the most clear on it. If that's the one your after I have one in my shed. The only problem with it is I cut holes in it for my reverse lights before I got my monaro taillights loL
