    Default overheating!!!! HELP!

    hey everyone!

    recently (tonight actually) my car overheated quickly and then returned back to just underhalfway on the temperature gauge.
    spoke to a mate mechanic mate about it and he said not to check the dipstick untill tomorrow when the car is cold so i decided to put the car in the garage and leave it there overnight.

    however upon walking inside i see a puddle on the drivers side of the car where it was parked before i put it away.

    it smells kinda wierd and is clear/slightly green dont really know if it is coolant/oil/water?

    is this bad? and can someone help me!

    Green = coolant.
    Check the coolant in the radiator (when its cold). You may have to add some, so you don't over heat it again when you take it for repair.
    Possibly a faulty thermostant, seeing how the temp came back down.

    Have you looked over the motor for the leak?
    Check hoses, welsh plugs and water pump among others.
