starting to?? dude its stuffed, lol. you could try some spray on adhesive but it might be cheaper to just go to your local wreckers & see whats there to replace it. anything from a vt-vx will do the job

Mine is starting to do the same, wonder how much a new one would be? Probably anywhere from $120- $300 at bloody Holden!
In fact that might even be a conservative estimate!!!!!!

last one i got from holden for work was 350 at trade price. this was for a vy but i cant imagine much price difference with vt. easier just to have look through the wreckers for a good one. they are out there. just be careful when removing the clips as you can tear the outer layer of insulating, the black layer, when trying to remove clips. also as a handy hint tape it to the bonnet with masking tape prior to removal. reason is if your not careful they have been known to fold up on you when removing sometimes causing it to break

!!!!!!!! $350 !!!!! Holy crap, talk about daylight robbery. Bloody dealers! They quoted me $205 each to supply O2 sensors- twice the price of auto stores.

its there for a reason otherwise holden & any other car manufacturers wouldnt put it there. it basically acts like a soundproofing & to take heat away from your engine. well thats what i was told years ago & havent had anyone contradict this reason as yet.

exactamundo, makes ned kelly seem like a charity worker, lol. lesson 1,dont buy anything from a dealer unless you really have no other choice, are a millionare or its for a stupid little clip or something like that. lesson 2 use what you got, even if you have to make it work(modify it in someway)if you cant, have a hunt round for a good used one.

Most people on here seem to believe that they are only to deaden sound, so they don't think twice about pulling them off, however: I have a strut brace that sits about twenty mm below the bonnet, now if I have been driving and then pop the hood to do checks or whatever and touch that strut brace, it is so hot that about 2 seconds is as long as I can hold it for. Therefore the bonnet would get extremely hot without the "matting" there to prevent the heat drom rising into the metal bonnet. I know this will be contradicted by members who have "Had theirs off for years" and "never had a problem with paint peeling". But I tell you that the engine heats the bonnet up far more than parking in the sun all day (lighter coloured cars anyway)

glad someone has some sense & agrees with me they may have had it taken it off for years but how long do they drive their car for,how hot does their engine get. if it doesnt have a chance to constanly reach operating temp for long perods of time of course it "might" not effect the paint.

Ive got small tears in mine ive even had a cop pull me over n check under the hood n saw the tears, he said if it gets any worse he can yellow sticker u if its anything like the pic in the OP. but whos 2 say all cops r the same? u could get away with it easy enough.

Oh and adhesive wont work either the heat from the motor will just unstick it.
