VX wagon with a replacement engine need info

Hi Guys,
Hoping someone could help me. Got a 2nd car a VX wagon that we bought last week and it has had a replacement Ecotec engine put in it. I am wondering if anyone could tell me what model car it is from.....

Engine Number VH453916

I also have a problem with the wipers. The wipers work fine when put on continuous but when they are put on intermitant they will move halfway up the screen and remain there. I have already replaced the wiper stalk with a brand new one.


P.S I picked the wagon up cheap that's why i bought it....

Hey mate check in your factory book, they have a break down of what each digit means.

Other people might know off the top of their heads though...

Thanks for your reply but i have only found the vin number explanation in the book, can't find an explanation of the engine number. I had a mechanic tell me it may be from a VS but i would like another opinion....
I have found this info so far but it still hasn't answered my question what model and year car the ecotec is from....

Given this info would seem that it is from a VR but did i thought the ecotec was VS and upwards.......Can anyone help out?



Also anyone got any ideas on the wiper problem....

According to my holden series three service manual, VH prefix is from a 1998-1999 VT, best I can work out but my manual does not cover earlier models. Having looked at some VS and VTs this afternoon, there would have to be some changes done to the front of an VS 3.8 to put it in a VT or VX as the pulleys are different and the power steer pump is mounted on the motor in the VS but on the fan housing of the VT and VX. Hope this helps. By the way, how cheap? Mine cost me $900 but another $900 for repairs and rego (pension) VTs are getting cheap!
