Default VT 5.0 Front end metallic squeek/creak under acceleration?

When you accelerate harder than normal the front end lifts and makes a real creak/squeek metallic sound (sort of like a bush or something rubbing up a thread under high load) just for a split second until the load comes off, the front end comes back down and it makes the same noise.

Everyone thats in the car reckons its at the front but it nearly sounds central to me.

Ive replaced nearly every bush in the front end except the radius rod bushes and they seem pretty worn but i cant see how that could be the noise?

Ive had it up on a hoist and cant find any loose bushes with a pinchbar other than the radius/caster rod bushes.

    Anyone else had this problem?

commo0n sense would tell u if u see the part is pretty damn worn REPLACE IT end of story then see if the noise persists check everything from top to bottom better to be safe then sry and cause more unwanted damage to the car .... but thats my opinion

Yes well i'd like to make sure that its the problem as the part alone is $170 plus labour... Especially after ive spend around $600 on the rest of the front end. The wife is already unhappy lol.

if you can jack the frt of the car up yourself it is easy to change the frt caster bushes, all you need is a 24mm and a 13mm spanner and you should be able to change them within the hour with a couple of beers or a lot quicker if you can get hold of that hoist again. i can get you a whiteline+ adjustable frt caster bush for $135.00 + postage if interested.

and if u were in young i could fit the parts while at tafe for you too and that is no labour would just be a thank you.... but yeah even tho the part may cost that i would change it even if it wasnt the problem... but u may also find by changing it that mite solve the problem

Well i changed the castor bushes with nolothane ones and they were pretty bad.

Unfortunately that wasnt the problem lol.

After i test drove it obviously i had the shits, came back home, opened the bonnet, pulled the handbrake up and loaded up the motor again. It wasnt moving much so i gave it a bit more and dropped the cluch and the whole side of the motor jumped up lol. I did this the other day and thought i put enough load on the motor but obviously i didnt lol.

Engine mount after all... Makes perfect sense now that when it wheelspins it voilently axle tramps. Thats the bloody motor jumping up and down exactly like the time my VS did it...

great find on the engine mount, but the new frt caster bush will make a big difference anyway, the axel tramp is more than likley coming from the rr x-member mount bushes and the rr diff mount bushes, the factory bushes are voided(not solid) which let the x-member and diff move up and down under hard exceleration, you can put solid x-member bushes in and a diff mount insert bush to stop a lot of the axel tramp and a good set of shocks to stop the rest.

Yeah they are pretty shagged but i think most of the axle tramp is fromn the engine mount. I'll soon say this arvo when i do the engine mount!

Yep the engine mount was clean in half lol.

What a job getting it out! 3 bolts took 3 hours... Mount was jammed on, had to hammer it to crack it. I dont know any easy way of putting the nut back on underneath other than cutting a slot in the tang of the mount so you can atleast get 15 degrees on the spanner and actually turn the nut... Rediculous, and an idiotic design. The nut fought all the way back down.

Anyway all is back to normal. No axle tramp at all and no creaking noise.
