mess inside MAF

just wondering the mess inside the MAF what would happen if it were to be removed, my air filter is good, nothing big gets through it, and the mesh is nice and clean but was thinking it probably creates a bit of restriction, so is there any issue with removing it?

i took mine out about 3 years ago(the mesh) an havnt had a problem yet . but have been told it is there so the air spreads evenly over the sensor or something like that.

Leave it there. It's not a restriction, it is there to make sure the air is hitting the sensor evenly.
