Default What colour code is our new VT?

This is my fiance's VT Exec. S2.. He's just bought it, and would like it restored to its former glory - it's gonna need new bumpers (old owner reversed into a garbage truck, front bumper clips are mostly broken) and a boot respray.. but I'm not sure on the colour... and that's something we need to work out first, or risk having to repaint the whole car, and the colour has kind of grown on me.

The colour is sort of a black/grey with a heavy dark green metallic finish, making the car look green in the day and black at night. It is NOT that ikky dark olive green that I've seen a million of, it's darker. (Although a past owner has tried to use it to touch up places and it definitely doesn't match on close inspection or in good light) It has a sports kit very similar if not the same as the HSV model (we were parked next to one at maccas the other day, and well I have no idea, but it looked pretty similar), with a dark (burnt?)gold trim. Atm, I don't have a colour code, because I don't have the car, it's off getting roadworthied.. but at this stage she looks to be mechanically A1, so I might have it back soonish.

Now I used to work at a Ford dealership (I know, I'm the enemy, but if it's any consolation I hated it there) so I went and tried a few detailer contacts, but all they know is fords, fords and more fords.. and I'm getting a little tired of the "sorry, can't help ya love" routine because they're too lazy to actually look it up. So here I am... I'll see if I can rake up a few pics from when we first looked at it, and any help is masively appreciated!

Well, there she is.. you can see why she needs new bumpers and a boot respray in those pics.. :P Oh, and the rego isn't censored because it's no longer registered... and we'll be getting our custom plates back on her anyway

no idea, seen a few this color though...the paint code should be printed on the id plate thing under the bonnet... or just take the fuel cap off and get them to color match the paint

I believe that's called "Capricorn" green.

I just googled it and didn't find much definite, but i did find this other forum post that has a pic of a VT with the same colour as yours...

I agree with mwb235. Capricorn green. Definitely not a Teal like Botanica mica that I have on my VT Acclaim the holden greens for your model are:-
Amazon Green (VT-VT II) Green-based Teal
    Capricorn Green (VT-VX) Dark Green
Laurel Green (VX II) Dark Green
so your options are, "Capricorn Green" as the Amazon is blue green and the Laurel is too late for your VT as it was not used on VTs, VX and later

Thanks everyone, ducked down to the workshop this morning and the colour is indeed Capricorn Green. (C137) The trim is 171, that's grey isn't it? Obviously the kit isn't factory. I've seen the gold on the kit around a lot on ss and hsv kits, but I think he wants to change it anyway.. any ideas on what would look good?

Nice dark silver IMO for the highlights. A lighter silver I think would cheapen it.

Take some decent photos when you get the car back and ask Rich in the Photoshop thread to do a couple colours. Maybe a colour coded kit, dark silver, charcol etc. It might give you some indication of how it'll look.

    Nice car BTW

Edit. For future reference, the kit is a VX Clubsport kit, including the boot spoiler

thanks for the info. Got the car back today, she just needed some new tyres and she was good for the rwc. Will take some pics once the weather clears up, it's too overcast here atm, and I think it's going to rain, so she's parked in the garage behind my old lantra (she doen't get driven much since we got the commodore, lol - I'm forcing myself to use it by blocking the commodore in :P).

The mechanic put brackets on the front bumper to hold it until we get the driveway fixed and we get a new one - Our driveway is warped from the water coming down the hill and the bumper just scrapes coming in and out, we don't want to get a new bumper or anything until that gets fixed obviously, not forking out for a new bumper and then have it ripped off. We have a S1 equipe that lives here too, but she's stock so it gets in and out fine, but even the lantra has trouble (the front tow loop is gone completely, the exhaust will hit if you reverse in and drive out), but the council is crying poor even though it's their bad drainage that's caused the problem.

So going to work on the rear bumper and interior first, the driver's door lock sticks, but just going to lubricate that and see how we go, and one of the rear locks sits up - even though it's locked, not sure what the problem is there. There's a bit of cometic stuff on the inside that needs prettifying, but we got her for $3k, so we're happy as long as she's mechanically fine. There's a bit of strange electrical stuff going on, like interior light coming on randomly, and the headlights staying on sometimes after she's turned off, but we met a guy when I had some problems with the lantra and he should do us a deal on electrical stuff (for now we just pull the fuse out when it does it - so glad it behaved for the rwc though!:P).

lol No enemy, i sell ford parts lol. Business is business it pays the bills.

Nice looking car, and nice colour. Around this time Holden has a good thing going on with some colours they made. Walk along at spot 2-3 different colours in the one car it was amazing. That's something they don't do anymore.
