vt 5lt wont start

recently my car broke down and it we found the water pump had shit it self, i have since replaced that and now when i go to start it, it wont kick over at all, i have checked the starter motor, alternator, battery etc. I've had a mechanic mate take a look at it and he has no idea

did the car overheat when the pump shat itself? if you let it hit red without turning the car off, you may have bent heads or even worse, block... and possibly damage to the cam/rods... does the ticking over sound the same as it used to?

is it manual? tried a clutch start.... check the wiring to the starter to see if its getting charge to turn over? could be a number of little things.
