i can hear my diff is about to go.. so i wanna change it before it does lol
i have heard of a 3.45 diff ratio? how can i get one and what is involved in changing it?
also how do i re-callibrate my speedo?
thanks in advance
Take it to a diff shop.
alrighty...
try ebay there are alot on there. As for whats involved i have never done it before so cant help
Unless you have done it b4 I say take it to a diff shop as with the vx they need the bigger gears and have been told they are harder to set up. were abouts are you at ? if ya in Melbourne I suggest trans-diff at kilsyth.
yeah i might just take it too a diff shop.. nah in syd mate, but thanks anyways![]()
im a mechanic and i would only do my own diffs as we send diff to the diff shop
and before i do mine i need to buy tools shims and a hole lot of shit plus i have hot washers parts washers and all that all mechanics will send diffs to specalists as they are set up for diffs like we send engines to engine shops and trans to trans shops not to a dif trans and engine shop as they are bodgey cheap scates those kinda places that say they do evrythink in fact some mechanics will only use one shops for manules and another for autos as they have to have there shops set up differntly
Why 3:45? Slows your launch doesn't it?
they came out with 3:11's im fairly sure
They are 3.08 standard. 3.45 gears increase your acceleration a bit. As for the work, you can either get a manual and have a crack yourself or take the easy way and just pay somebody to do it.
VX2 Executive Sedan - 3.8L Auto (for now)VT SS Sedan - Supercharged V6 Auto (Genuine L67 SS)VN SS Sedan - 5.0L 5 Speed Manual (Currently Balga spec waiting for panel and paint)
APPARENTLY the 3.45 gets 75km/h in 1st and 125km/h in 2nd and around 200+km/h in 3rd... read it somewhere yesterday but i cant find it again.
so do they just change the gears inside my diff... or replace it? im currently at tafe doing a mechanics course and they only thing we havent learnt yet is gearbox's and diff's =/ so i got no idea
Normally they will change gears and bearings, and tighten/check LSD.
As mentioned take it to someone specialised.
yeah man thats what im gonna do.. just getting an idea of what there gonna change and what the cars gonna be like after they do it ya know
