hey guys, just got myself one of the worst condition vt commodores thats still on the road for FREE!!!
whats wrong with it; it needs a new head gasket, new injectors, suspension is defected (too low) the interior is F*&^%D, needs the holes left over from removing the spoiler closed up, got a few dings in it, and could just overall do with a new paintjob, cos atm its that bad. if the guy didnt give it to me for free, i woulda bashed him because of the way this was treated.
whats good with it; 2 1/4" cat back, it has a dual fuel on it, head unit, new speakers all round, 6x9's on parcel shelf, and a 15" alpine sub with amp, and 4 brand new stockies with tyres
so atm its just one big leaky and broken down sub box
anyways, getting to the point, i have got myself a pair of new 18" wheels for it, and its sitting next door getting all the engine problems fixed.
What i really want to do is make my new vt as powerful and fun as i possibly can without having to resort to forced induction, ive got $2,500 to play around with on the engine, and was hoping you guys could tell me what was best for getting a good bang for my buck ??
will have pictures up either monday or tuesday.
Idea One) Insure it for 6 or 7 k, park it in the shed for a month or two, one night chuck it on a trailer take it somewhere in the middle of nowhere and torch it! ChaChing!
Make yourself six or seven grand, instead of spending six or seven grand on a POS. lol.

could be a plan, but there is nuthing absolutely major that needs to be fixed, after everything is fixed and its back to its former vt standard condition, i will have only spent maybe 2k, which really isnt a lot. and i got quoted insurance for only $3250.
i have a lot of good on my side for making this thing good. im not a genius when it comes to cars, but my neigbours a mechanic/panel beater, and my best mate restores classic fords/holdens and has his own paint booth![]()
if you see some of the photos that im gonna post up in the next few days, you will probably change your mind. and its a bit late now. ive already started to fix the damm thing -_- so F$%K burning it, im gonna fix it up!! i got 18months to do so.
Just make a GTO look alike!!(like me)
It'll look awesome!!
HSV not the pontiac!
yer i was actually thinking about that. but then im looking at all my dough going towards panels. doubt i will have the money for that, and getting it to go hard
tell us what you's have done to yours engine wise, ive got a k&N pod filter but ive heard that can decrease power cos these things get so god damm hot in the engine bay.
I made a costom "air box" for my pod,and its heaps better, and goes a lot harder.I've also smoothed out the engine bay
only pic i found of it, havent managed to get next door. this is a picture of it the day i picked it up, this is how i got it, dirty and broken down :/ got the old stockies on it aswell new ones look a million times better.

Here is the custom air box and piping.
Its really easy & a cheap DIY idea.
(made in a few hours)
Hey!
Can you explain whats going on with the custom airbox? Looks interesting. A few weeks ago I replaced the cracked airbox on my VT after backfiring smashed it....now I am finding she has slightly less 'get up ad go' than before, and thats the only real change made. Anyone got any ideas on why this might be?
Cheers![]()

Use it as a donor car and jam all the running gear and some of the interior into a classic.
Ahaha Camo mate, you got a long way to go on that car's looks. But hey, building them up is just as much fun as driving the blasted, expensive things ey
It should look and go good once your finished with it, if you stick to your To-Do list.
Just one thing, if the car has been that badly treated, chances are it's been thrashed around like an 18 year old in a brothel, so i'd double check all the modifications already done have been fitted properly.
Not a dodgy backyard job, which gives you nothing but problems no end.
