    Default Vt suddenly cuts off????

    Hi there
I was driving today with a trailer on....I drove for around 40 minutes then my engine cut off going around a roundabout.......
No lights came on befor it cut out....
I have changed the cam and crank angle sensor
But sometimes when i'm driving the abs and trac light comes on...
This has happened in the past but not much i say about once every 3 months
So would this be the abs module????? o2 sensor????
I have taken it to auto elec but they can't find any error codes..
They say they need to see it happen befor they can fix it
Please if anyone can share some light on this????

I want this fixed asap as it could be dangerous if it cuts out at the wrong place

    Thanks in advance

I'd be looking at replacing the fuel pump.

ABS module is an easy one to diagnose. Next time the lights come on turn your aircon on and see if the compressor turns on (pretty sure the light on the aircon button wont come on). Also before or after you turn the aircon on (Not while the aircon is on) the thermo fan should be running at full speed.

    Thanks for the reply
Nearly everytime i drive my car i have air con on...With light on dash all the time...
Also thermo fan always turns on when air con is swicthed on....
But saying that when car cuts out .....I restart it and i have to enter the pin for radio..
Also with the air con i need to press the button again to turn air con on....
Its like when my car shuts off ...A lead has been taken off battery...Everything resets
    Thankyou

Oh ok! Thats a different story.

I would take it to an autoelec and have the positive battery leads (And probably the earths) from the fuse box to the battery to the starter motor replaced with bigger gauge wiring.

I had the same problem with my wifes VT SS. It would do a big miss and all the lights would come on like you've just started it. It wouldnt stall though only because it is manual and it clutch stated itself again. If it happened in neutral then obviously it stalled.

Also slow cranking to start when warm even with a new battery.

The wiring heats up and builds resistance to a point where the ecu drops below 9v and cuts out. Everything resets including the radio.

If its happening to you around corners then you probably have one of those wires loose. Your going to have to check all the connections and see if their tight first.

    Hi there
    Just a question You say

Do you mean a bigger gauge wiring from alternator to battery???
One month ago i changed the alternator I also installed extra heavy gauge wire..So therfor from alternator to battery has 2 wires
Also had new battery and batterey terminals all leads going to battery were all cleaned
Is there a certain wire/wires i sould be looking at??? Some where eles??
What wires can i look at changing from fuse box????
Doesn't seem to cut out going around a corner...Just when i am slowing down about to go around a corner
Do you think a fauly o2 sensor could cause this problem???
    Or any other sensor???
    Thanks heaps for your help

Start the car holding the mode and up button on the trip computer. Cycle through the menu with the mode button until you find the system volts. Should read atleast 13.8V.

    Yeh thats very interesting
I bought a brand new alternator...
With everything turned off air con lights ect
    I am getting around 12.9--13.5
Also with extra heavy gauge wire installed...
This is the thing that got me worried a little when i fitted it...
But it's charging as with motor off it's lower but when motor turns on the reading goes up
I also tried the mulitimeter on back of alternator and on battery when was running...There is only a 0.01 volt differance..Which is normal...??
So is there anything i could do to fix this as reading sould be slightly higner????
    Thanks for your help

Yeah that voltage is too low.

I would take it to an auto elec and ask the question about larger battery cabling. Its too hard to figure out without being there.
