Manual gear shifter on Auto trans!!

Hey guys i've replaced the auto gear shifter with a chrome short shifter from a MR 2.and bought a dice gear knob.It loks cleaner and simpler than the auto,and its easyer to shift without having to press the button!Im just worried about accidentally knocking it into park or reverse in the middle if driving!?

could u post up some pictures....

since ur left hand wont be changing gears... simply use it to karate chop anything that may get into the shifters path...

I really wanna put a piston as my shifter...

tried it with our vs wagonb paddock basher, when changed from drive to reverse it just stalled...but vis versa made loud clunks and spin...still probably not good

as for drive to reverse it seemed the computer just didnt let it happenand sent it to neutral and turned it off

What if you put it all the way into 1st,so it takes awhile toknock it up to reverse?

The cars are designed to shut off the engine if they are put into reverse while moving..

My mates BMW has this stock (83 model) 318 series..He's never had a problem with it.

only issue i can see is the lack of an inhibitor switch so you cannot start the car in gear .............will not pass a rego inspection without one (if they look )

Here you go guys,I stuffed up the surround again but it gives you an idea.
I've made the shifter shorter this time, and it looks and works better.Its gotta be done again coz i need to spray it with primer/filler.
