Ok, I have a 97' VT Berlina 4sp Auto, and recently ive noticed that when I go up hills or the rev's go over about 2200 in top gear the car will shudder/lag and pretty much struggle to respond, it would go away when i'd manually put it into 3rd. I've been told it could be a transmission problem, I checked the fluid levels and found them to be low, I topped it up and the gears are alot smoother but the shudder/lag is still there and it happens through all the gears now. My old man thinks it could be the fuel injection, or something to do with the fuel?
Im taking to a mechanic in a few days to see what they say, but id like as many opinions as possible.
Anyone else ever had a problem like this or knows what it could be? Im trying to sell it and would like to get rid of amything that could be a major problem.
possibly ya CAS maybe
Check your spark leads as they can cause your vehicle to break down and drop a cylinder under load.
Check your ignition coils. I had the same problem, one of the coils was breaking down under load.
thanks guys, it turns out it was the plugs and leads, replaced them all today and it fixed it right up!
