Hi all
I have a 1999 VT Acclaim Wagon, V6 Auto. 334,000km (yeah I know, it's been around!)
Yesterday all was well with the car. I'm pretty light on the throttle and when cruising at 80kmh it does around 1500rpm.
Today whilst doing the same, the tacho was showing between 2500-2700 rpm. Had a think and a listen and it sounded like it was revving high. Pulled over, stopped and took off. 1st, 2nd, 3rd - the kick up to 4th usually happens around 70-80kmh but nothing! Just kept revving as if wanting to change but didn't!
Had a look around and seems it could be a solenoid thing. I just had the transmission service a month ago and the techs said all was fine. In fact they flushed the tranny and refilled it not just drained it and refilled.
Any ideas as to what might've happened? Just surprised at its suddeness, as in yesterday is was great and today its gone a bit stupid.
Any ideas would be appreciated
Cheers

P.S. If a 4th gear solenoid issue, what am I looking at to have it repaired?
Try checking for fault codes to see if it is an electrical problem.
Maybe the cars in limp-home mode, so no 4th gear. As above check for fault codes, also check the transmission fluid level.
