    Default VT engine ticking noise

    hey everyone
got a ticking noise in my engine but isnt HEAPS loud
just wondering whether that supercheap stuff you can buy will fix it at all, or is it a waste of money?

i dont think its a cracked piston head etc.

    cheers

Probobly something different but my VT had a ticking noise, ended up being a leak in the exhaust manifold.

yeh its only really noticeable with the window down and no music when its warmed up

when i put my ear close to the noise, it's at its loudest around the pistons so i dunno

how much did it cost to replace the exhaust mainfold?

It cost about 30 minutes work. Exhaust shops throw those manifolds in the bin so ask for one. There are a million Ecotecs getting loud exhausts. The gaskets are about $5 from Repco.

ecotech's are fairly common to tick. it can be put down to many things such as:
    1. the viscosity of your oil is too low (hydraulic lifters)
    2. the exhaust gases tick when the collect in the manifold.
    3. your valve clearances need adjusting.

i dont think i've heard an ecotech that doesnt tick.
    just turn up the music
