I recently bought a 2000 VT Berlina 5.7L does any one have a photo of what a stock exhaust system on this model looks like? and what the stock pipe size is? and is stock a single or twin system?
my current system is twin exhaust system (twin cats) and the pipes are black.
are there ways to tell if a system is aftermarket? e.g. do stock systems show weld pints?
they are twin stock, 2.25inch and are silverish new or usually rusty color, and they have holden stamped on the center mufflers.. also have a H pipe just after the cats( just a little pipe that joins in between the two).. most after market one have a X section just after the cats instead....
if its not rusty its generally an aftermarket set up :P
* 1997 VT executive
* 2.5 inch Lukey catback
* Lowered on Munro shocks Pedders springs
* Fusion 1000 watt amp & Kenwood 12 inch sub & head unit
Thanks for the responses... it seems my exhaust system is stock after all.
FYI
They're 2.25inches, but there is no holden logo stamped on the centre mufflers (might be i just didn't see it coz they were dirty), and also there is no H pipe connecting the 2 pipes any where along the system... there is however a piece of flat metal that holds the pipes together just before the cats (if starting from the front of car). The 2 pipes never connect directly to each other (x section or H section), they're about 1-2 inches apart the whole way. And lastly... they're rusty lols.
sounds wierd, cant say i've ever seen one without the balance pipe.. might be an aftermarket standard one. just a new one but not a sports exhaust....
