    Default Car detail question

Ive got a Panther Mica VX which has some fairly fierce marks in the clear, its also got a few nicks of paint missing.

Im going to get it cut and buffed with micromesh by a panel beater, anyone know a ballpark figure of what it should cost me?

Don't go to a panel beater to get your car buffed. Panel beaters and car yards have pretty bad reputations when it comes to detailing. If you go to a panel shop there is more than a good chance you'll get some scratches buffed out and replaced with buffer trails and holograms. Either go to a proper detailer or don't bother. Can you post up some pics?

Does anyone know how much a job like this would cost as I'm quite interested too as there is a car that I want to make look good for sale

i called around for mine, and a detailing place here in melbourne did the lot (took rims off, cleaned inside and out, clean brakes, under the car, engine bay, windows, tyres, steam clean interior, armor all interior, steam clean boot, clean spare wheel well, complete cut, buff and polish) - practically makes your car look new again for $480

a lot of money, but not a lot if it makes your car look amazing for a sale, and earn an extra grand or something

just ring around, as mentioned above, get a proper detailing place to do it, not a car yard or panel beater

i have a hookup though, this panel beater is through my brother in law that runs new car section at a dealership.

I havnt had a quote yet, but im guessing anything under 400 will be a good price?

what there sayn about car yards is right, iv been a car yard detailer for a few years and all there worryd about it a high turn over rate. your car will get buffd and pollishd in about an hour and done with a hard cut compound witch will take off more clear coat then it probly needed. when it comes to pollishing only ever send ya car to a reputable detailer who will spend a couple hrs pollishing it and doin all the prep work for the best finnish. als dont use these car wash cafe places who hire indians n asians to detail ya cars, iv had to fix a lot of cars that have been sent to them and had swirl marks put thru the paint or even burnt paint.
    BAD COP!! NO DONUT!!

are you on drugs all the panel shops i know detail real well as they have to clean the car before it can go and i do mechanical for lots of these places and when the car comes back for a recheck it is like new i have never seen a panel beater #### paint by polishing it

Clean and defect free are not the same thing. Name these panel shops you claim detail well. How many is all?

The one I work at does a reasonable job IMO, but I have to agree that you would get much better results from a good detailer
