vx starter motor woes

For the last couple of months the starter on my VX has been playing up .It turns over a couple of times then slows down as if the battery is flat then fires up .It can happen when the motor is hot or cold , morning or night , there is no set pattern but it is happening more frequently. The battery and altenator check out ok . I have done a search but havn't found what i'm after.

If it is the starter motor, it is cheaper to buy a new one than to repair your one. I am seeing them on ebay as low as $99 new. If it's the original starter on the car, it is probably due for replacing.

Thanks mate , its the original starter done about 203000 kays . looks like e gay might be the go .

I bought a good second hand one on ebay for $9, 2 weeks ago, cost more for postage. $12 so $21. still cheaper than wreckers at $40-$45 and up. I on an age pension so the cheaper the better

I purchased a brand new starter motor here in SA, at sprint auto parts about a month ago, only cost $99

Starts so quickly and easily now
