    Default ignition key, again

had a look thru posts and nothing. I had trouble starting my VT Acclaim auto. Turn key, nothing asked on here, no result. My son who worked at a dealer said turn the key so the buttons and dimple section is down when I put the key in. Did that, problem fixed. I thought the key was supposed to work either way. ???

Depends if u have the series 1 key reader or series 2, the series 2 has the full metal contact ring where the series 1 only has the 2 metal tabs which become faulty easier, which could explain wat just happend.

so another words, one of the contacts on the ignition has a dodgy connection,, you can unclip it and check the wires,, by the sounds of it one of the wires has come loose hence the key only working one way

As far as i know yes it should fit, i cant see any reason why not,, they the same size it would just be the wires on the back but that's nothing to major to fix if it needs changing

They either call it the key reader or the ignition ring but yep straight swap and slips over the ignition barrell, its all plug n play with 2 wires, a ground and the ignition globe.
