Ok, this time:
The right tail light has gone, actually it is the bulb socket has cracked and the bulb won't stay in.
The left is fine, and with the lights on, it lights up.
However when you apply the brake pedal no brake lights come on (including parcel shelf).
So bulbs are fine, but brakes lights won't work?
I'm about to check the fuse, but any ideas as to cause or what it may be?

The little 'button' that the brake pedal pushes onto.

Check the fuses first definitely.
Also sounds like it might be a brake light switch!
I had the same happen to my car, apply the brakes and no brake lights.
Quite simple to fix, just in a bit of an annoying spot but something like $13 to replace the part.
The process to change one is in a Haynes repair manual, best thing you can do for yourself is to get one of these or something similar.

Ok update, the socket was in pieces, this I think blew the fuse out, replaced fuse.
So the left brake light and parcel shelf lights now work, the right one is had it. Need to install a new socket, yay.
Anyone know if they are a part easily available?
