Please help i have a vx lumina was making what sounded like pulley noise. so i went and replaced all three idler pulleys but noise still there i have no idea were the noise is coming from very frustrating dont no what else to look at can some one please give me some advice on what the hell it could be because it is doing my head in now !!

The belt itself can make a noise similar to a worn pulley. Spraying some silicone spray or WD 40 onto the belt while the engine is running will help for a short time but the noise will probably return.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Could be the water pump bearing, did you give it a spin when you had the drive belt off?
im with 'accentstencil' same thing that happened to me lucky i was there when the machanic did it or else i rkn he would of charged me for a pully and the belt
Like Pablo said, take the belt off and start the engine for a short period. This way you can be absolutely sure if it is a belt/pulley/belt driven accessory issue. If it is it could be the bearings in your water pump, alternator etc. I had the bearings in my alternator go once. Luckily I had a spare one on hand.
Four commodores and counting.
ok cheers guys i will repace it and get back to let ya know how i went thanks for your advice.
Turn your air con on and have another listen. If the noise stops with your air con on then the bearing on your air con clutch is shot. You can change it without letting the gas go.
I think you've isolated my problem. I've got a squealing noise with the aircon off but goes when I turn the aircon on. I can't figure out why. Could you tell me how to change the clutch bearing on the compressor.
It's on a Gen 3 VT Calais.
Cheers,
