Hey all,i know this may have been asked before but,i am getting a little peeved by some of the stupid offers i am getting for my VT 50th Anniversary with only 142000kms that i am trying to sell. Latest offer was $3500,which to me is stupid. Its a bloody good car & i see alot advertised with a heck of alot more kms for the same money or more, yet nobody wants it???I am happy to accept offers above $4500 but to me this is still very cheap. So am i expecting to much for it & should accept less or just hold out for more. The problem is the longer i keep it the more kms gets put on the odo & the more it costs me to advertise the bloody thing.. What are some thoughts or opinions?? Should i maybe hold out,put a bit of bling on it or what to help sell it?
Link below has details of the car
VT 50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION-V6 AUTO-140000KM 6 Month rego & RWC
A pessimist is a man who thinks all woman are bad. An optimist is a man who hopes they are
Interior looks rather ordinary to be honest and no service history would turn lots of people off.
problem is there are so many VT's for sale now, so if someone sees one cheaper they are going to go for that one first...
way i see it, once a cars older than 10 years you pretty much keep it and run it into the ground cos its not worth getting rid of
Yeah mate. Stock as a rock S1 VT V6 auto, no body kit/spoiler, stock wheels, no service history. Id say if you can get an offer of $4k take it and run. Unfortunately now these cars are in the 10+yr old category, it makes them the P platers first car type category. And not many P platers want stock as a rock cars with standard rims etc. The low kms doesnt mean a lot without service history (to me anyway if im looking at buying a car) as there is no way the ensure its original kms.
got a revs cert to verify kms & one other owner before me was an little old lady. so its all above board.
was going to throw some vx ss rims on & a few other bling bits i got lying around but i just worry i might be wasting my time.

I got this 2000 model about a month ago with similar k's, spotless interior, factory sheepskin, one very small scratch down passenger rear guard at the bumper to guard join, 6 mth reg, blisteringly cold aircon, 90% tread tyres, sports suspension and a big stamp of approval from my mechanic of 10 years for $4200.
Incredibly tidy for a 10 year old car
Only fault found in that month is the electric aerial doesn't work
![]()
nice tidy car. if i got that for this one i would be happy enough & i know the new owner would be,this car is fantastic to drive for its age.
its just gotta go,my backyard is starting to look like a wrecking yard something chronic. i have already had to move cars elsewhere for landlord reasons,lol![]()

Mate, just gotta be lucky and find the right buyer, I guess. I would prefer to buy a car with as fewer k's as that, no worries, especially up here in Bundy, but in Brisbane maybe go for a grand less? I know cars up here are dearer, dealer would have $8-9,000 on it.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
If I were you mate I'd just throw the VX rims on, spend a whole day washing, cleaning, vaccuming and polishing the buggery out of it, and then most importantly, take some time and take some really good pictures of it! Presentation if everything when selling and I know when Im looking to buy it annoys me when sellers look like have gone out to their car on spur of the moment and gone snap snap snap snap, taken a few quick photos and thats it. Find a nice spot, in good light and take pics from all angles.
well i did kinda go snap snap in the first lot of photos as i was asked for pics but then i updated it with better pics after i just gave it a good wash. its kinda a toss up between the vx ss rims(still on my ss) or a set of 18" thats sitting here. only drama i have is having a set of factory vt mags sitting here with no use to meor i cant sell on

VTLS1, I know how you feel but the age of the car is starting to have a bad effect on price. Yours may be an exceptional one, I don't know not being able to see it in the flesh, so to speak. Problem is there are a lot of people on lowish incomes looking for bargains and the bargains are out there. I am seeing a lot of VTs from $2000 to $3000 and cheaper. My 12/97 Acclaim wagon cost me $1700 on the road with 12 months rego. cruise, air, abs, trac etc all working. Obviously not top of the line but good daily driver with moderate Ks at 200000 and I like it. 1 other point is that they are not cheap to repair and a lot of repairs are beyond the backyard mechanic, needing the tech 2 for diagnosis. Hope you get what you want for it.
Not just low income people, some just cant justify a more expensive car for the klm's travelled in a year.
For me, any more than $4500 and a taxi and car rental for longer trips worked out cheaper and no mechanicals to worry about.
God knows how many klm's you have to drive to justify buying a new car
Well done, anything I looked at in that price bracket had panel damage, was obviously flogged and looked and smelt like something had been killed inside. My 12/97 Acclaim wagon cost me $1700 on the road with 12 months rego.
I just bought a 98 Berlina, very straight, body is prefect, paint is perfect, nice dark tint, it is all original has not been screwed with, interior is near perfect, air con perfect, power windows, cruise etc, 178000ks, roadworthy and 3 months rego for $4k. That was a bit steep but worth it for a very good car with lots of options. You can buy them in this condition with 12 months warranty from a dealer for $5k, they are just not worth much. Count yourself lucky its not a Falcon or a Magna and at least worth something. I would consider paying $4k for yours, only because it has low ks, but I would try to talk you down, for $3.5k it would be a good deal.
Yours is white, the interior is base level and looks a bit rough, and you have no service history. I got service history, nice colour paint and velour interior, one thing the missus said to me when we were looking: "No white ones!". Yes they are nice cars, and a fantastic deal for what they are worth, but they aren't worth much and thats the reality of owning a large holden.
bad time selling these
and the v6 auto is the most common
i didn't pay that much more for an LS1 T56...
didn't the 50th anniversary have a badge or decal on the rear pillar? has it been resprayed?
Interior and engine bay looks like a lot of wear for 142,000 km
On the 50th Anniversary Commodore there's a black/gold 50th badge stuck on under the side indicators in the front guards - the ones in VTLS1's car are in the right place. Calais 50th had one of these badges only on the rear taillight garnish, left side.
I think the one you're talking about is the VTII Calais International, which had a round "International" badge on each of the C (rear) pillars.
I'll just throw in this: A car is worth what the market will bear, thats economics. That means if its not selling, then yes you are asking too much.
Never been resprayed or in an accident. it did spend about 2 years parked up but was started every couple of days by previous owner. photo of engine bay was taken at night, just cause i was asked for one, just forgot to take one in daylight, lol. kms are genuine,i have cert to prove it. interior has now been steamcleaned & seat pockets fixed(normal vt/vx fault)

what has happened is that VLs have sorta reached cult-ish status and have proven to be even more expensive than VN-VS Commodes. These are desperately unpopular for some reason.
IMO the only VT-VZs that seem to attract a good price are LSXs...
Pictures show three different wheels right? Or am i looking at them the wrong way. That to me says the owner farts around and fiddles, so few ks but 3 different lots of wheels is a bit messy. Might not mean anything to anyone else but it's something that gets my attention.
$3500 + and be happy with that. Not worth much now but most cars get like that eventually/
i have got 2 VT's & a VX SS,one of the buyers on here that was interested wanted to know if i had any other mags available. Quickest thing i could do was post them in the listing. If you have a look at the pics you will see one set on a red one(vx ss) & the other on a silver one(vt ls1),the car for sale is whiteNo farting or fiddling around, just trying to help the buyers out,or do you just say heres the car take it or leave it? For me,i try to help anyone who buys off me in any way i can, even handing out the odd freebie
On another note,i did end up selling the thing this morning for 4 grand with no rwc & no extras to a P plater.
Still to cheap to me,the buyer couldnt give me the cash quick enough so even he knew it was sold cheap![]()

I paid 8k for my VT two years ago, spewing i never waited and was able to at least get an LS haha.
I'll just throw in my two cents and say that to the naked eye it is just another white series one (ugly tail lights) comoodore of which there a plenty (fleet sales). The 50th anniversery would not be very sought after in the base model, more so in the calais. It is basically a slightly optioned up execututive.
Having said that, from what you've said it sounds like it is a very good example of this model, unlike a lot of the previously mentioned fleet/run of the mill white vt execs.
End of the day, i'd be doing what other posters have said and take a little lower than what you want for it. It is hard when you think that the car you are selling is much better than everyone seems to think, nearly everyone selling a car goes through this. I'd say take 4k if you can get it.
