my VT is a v6 5 speed for information's sake. ever since a few days ago when i dropped down to first going round a corner (wasn't going fast and wasn't trying to burnouts or whatever) revved the engine a bit, did a little bit of a squeak with the wheel, didn't think much of it. pulled over to drop off a mate then when i went to take off it would shudder, miss and carry on and id have to rev the engine quite considerably to get her going without stalling while engaging the clutch.
last night had replaced plugs and checked leads which seemed to be ok, coil packs had a consistent ohm rating. battery is about 2-3 months old. fuel filter isn't that old.
exhaust chugs a bit when taking foot off accelerator, but had done that before but not as severe, rough as hell idle, also the missing has been evident before this but it had been rare and when the motor is under stress.
have checked for error codes and there is none. seems to be missing in one or two particular cylinders. and seems to be the worst when the motor is more under stress.
going to replace the leads anyway and see if it makes a difference with a mates coil pack.
thought id ask before going to a mechanic and kicking myself for missing something stupid and saving a bit of cash.
jiggle every electrical connector/fuse/relay/length of wiring in your bay with the car running - see if you can find something loose/broken. Sounds to me like something simple has just gotten a bit dislodged/loosened.. which is usually the hardest to diagnose![]()
Try the vacuum hose underneath the throttle body, comes off all the time and causes the car to run like shit. If it is that, put a small hose clamp or something on it to make sure it stays there.

I saw another thread were a guy had an auto with the same problem,Cant find it though.
Pretty sure it was a break in 1 of the leads or a cracked plug from it being over tightened.
I've got a very similar problem with my VX-Spak.Going to replace the plugs and leads to see if that works.
changed leads, put in some injector cleaner for the hell of it to see if it may fix the problem, still running rough as
had a look around and checked connections everywhere. nothing seems to be loose or anything.
will try and change the coil pack soon
all is good now, have replaced the coil packs, cheers
how much did it cost you to replace the coil packs?
50 bucks off a mate, but they go for around that on eBay, prob a bit more in shops
