Hey all,
After some searching and not finding any definate answers.. i need your guys help! Here's the situation:
I've had my commo (2000 VX L67 Berlina) for 6mths now.... and after around 2 months of owning it.. it starting making a clunk/clicking sound from the driver side rear hub...
THE NOISE: Its a intermit problem, comes and goes... its a clicking/clunking sound that increases as road speed increase and seems to be like ONE cluck per wheel rotation. Sometimes it'll just magically go away. Its F@#KIn annoying and is very loud, when it begins only begins as a soft tapping/ticking sound denn get loudder and louder and LOUDER! Its also hard to show anyone cause.. its comes and goes. So on with my story.
Took it to my Mech ( trusty fella ) ... and he adjusted the handbrake...
And sweet as the noise went away for a month.... denn came back again.. with another adjustment.. was good for 2-3 weeks... denn it started to get really bad... it came bak every 1-2 days after handbrake adjustment. About 4 times i've visted my mech.
Thinking it was the handbrake assembly... we replace the whole driver side handbrake assembly... (shoe, adjuster, springs). Just got car back yesterday and thought Sweet as noise went away.... BUT for 2 days now its back.
Is it DIFF? CV ? Driveshaft? The noise comes and goes... like right now its not doing it, but was an hour ago.
HELP ME guys, im only a uni student and money is low!!! I need this shit fix so i can go to work/uni
Any suggestions?
Will try and get a Youtube video happening next time it does it....
I had a similar problem, turned out to be the CV joints. Is the car lowered??
I had a simalar problem with a friends Vy, turned out to be shitty LSD oil, i thought it had chewed out a driveshaft or diff internals but after a quick drain n fill with new oil it went away
i had a very similar problem, took it to 4 different mechanics not one could work it out ended up being a loose tyre weight and the clicking stopped when the weight flew off one day
yeah I have hit it a couple of times when a wheel weight came a little loose. Took me ages to work out what it was. pair of large pliers and a light tap with a tack hammer fixed it right up.
I've also had similar noise emminate from the nut cover...took it off and rotated it a couple of spokes and that fixed it.
some thing to check, and dont qoute me on this but some diffs need an addivitve in the oil it costs around 60 dollars but then again that might only be for an lsd. . like i said not sure but i had a similar noise and that fixed the problem
