Hey guys, I'm not loving the look of my headlights.. the previous owner told me that they were "Philips blue vision globes" - so I assumed they would be pretty sweet so I didn't even bother checking...
Not sure what these globes are suppose to look like however they look like simple yellow halogen ones to me.
So I've been told to get some Xenon headlights from SuperCheap Auto.. I'm willing to do this for $30 - I took a look at my headlights today and couldn't work out how to get the suckers out.. I was able to unscrew the cap from the inside of the engine bay and take out the wiring but couldn't figure out how to get the globe out.. There's two screws in there but I didn't want to mess with them....
Can someone provide instructions to get them out?
I'm pretty sure that the diagram I labelled below is correct? If not please correct me.
Also what's the deal with Xenon? Does anyone know the exact globes I need or anything? Do I just replace the main and not worry about the high beam or? Any/all advice would be very helpful. Thanks
There's a bit of spring-loaded metal wire that locks the globes in. You need to just push the metal wire so it unclips, then it folds out and the globe can be removed.
Your diagram has the headlight labelled correctly. The parker globe is sort of under the "Main" globe.
I think by "Xenon" you're referring to the incorrect marketing of white/blue globes. Xenon gas is actually in HID lights which you won't get for $30 from Supercheap. Those "Xenon" labelled globes in Supercheap are just halogen globes with colour on the bulb to make it seem whiter or blue.
I always replace both the H4 (main) and H1 (high) globes. I use Philips X-treme Power 80+, which are whiter than stock but still slightly yellow, but are pretty much the brightest legal globes you can buy from Autobarn, Supercheap, etc.
Oh I think I know what you mean, it's like gold wire yeah? Wrapped around some clips or something?
Thanks mate, will have a look tomorrow.
yewah just push down one of the ends of the gold wire and push it out of the holder and it pops out.
i got some Narva H4 Platinums in mine and happy as with them, really like how the parkers turned out to.
Thanks guys, still looking for an answer to my question; Do I need to replace main and high beams or just main?

don't bother with the super cheap ones. I worked there for a while and put them in mine and can assure you they look yellow to me too. The philips ones are similar, they both say xenon but obviously arn't, they are just 'xenon look a likes'... better off with the narva H4's at least its shown that they look good.
The Philips don't claim to be 'Xenon'... They're just brighter and slightly whiter than standard.
Philips Lighting Australia - X-tremePower
Hey mate, wasn't able to find the Philips X-treme Power 80+ on the supercheap website but I did come across this:
Calibre Xenon Blue Performance Globe - 12V, 55W, 2 Pack - Supercheap Auto
Could you tell me anything about this one? Thanks.
If they say Xenon and blue in the name, they're just going to be average globes with colour on them. If that's what you're after, then they're perfect for you![]()
I haven't used those globes, I've stuck to white-ish globes that put out more light. Like the Philips X-trempower and Osram Nightbreaker... The Osrams weren't that great and blew after only a few months.
Hm okay, the only thing on supercheap website with "phillips" is headphones lol..
Anyway I realized that the above link is for "H7" not even sure what that is.. But I think I need "H4" and "H1"? The closest thing to this were two Calibre packets;
H1: Calibre Extra Vision Performance Halogen Globe - 12V, 55W Xenon Blue, 2 Pack - Supercheap Auto
H3: Calibre Extra Vision High Performance Halogen Globe - 12V, 55W Xenon Blue, 2 Pack - Supercheap Auto
Will the H3 do the job of a H4?
Don't use a website to find products then... Go to a store... and try a store other than SupercheapI can't talk, I buy my globes from the UK via eBay but I know they're decent globes before buying.
No, H3 and H4 are completely different. You must use H4 to replace H4.
I can't comment on those globes as I've never seen or used them but from past experience blue coated globes will be whiter and sometimes blue but have reduced light output.
Get these lights i got them on mine
they show alot so great for visablity and pure white. you get a set of H4 for hi and low and H1 for High
ther H.O.D not H.I.D there difrent
fits like normal globes
just gota tuck away that heaviy duty wiring

i have phillips diamond vision 4300k lights from autobarn in my car, they are a light blue colour not too bright....any higher than 4300k and you start to loose distance as they get brighter.
Im about to purchase 8000k HID's for mylights and maybs going to put 10,000 or 12,000k in my foggies (which are probs already blinding enough) lol
if you dont want trouble from the coppers id go for a like 6000k which is white to blue light
