hi there after several attempts and going here and there i finally would like to reveal how can u delete dtc codes ( history trouble codes) for vt and vx commodores without going to the HOLDEN SHARKS and without a tech2. for all who are interested here is the solution...)tested on vt and vx...
all you have to do is to cycle your car key ignition on and off for 100 times and that's it.
cheersssssssssssss

what codes have you deleted and have you done this personally?
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
yes mate tested on my car i have vx commodore
all history trouble codes and i'll bet anybody if he used to have a current and a history code if he did what i mentioned before he will be surprised. if u wanna make sure of this u should test ur car first by using a paper clip and read the code after that cycle the ignition 100 times on and off and do the test again it will flash 12 that means the current code and any history code is deleted.
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while? I'm pretty sure that does the same thing.
no mate if u disconnect the battery it will delete only any current codes not the history ones
mate disconnecting the battery is a pain in the ass coz it will drive like shit for a while and u will raise up alot of history trouble codes sleeping for a long time at that time u have to go to holden to erase them becoz some guys they disconnect battery and they drive the car without knowing that there is heaps of history codes are raised up. other thing is u have to let the car computer to learn and run smooth.
or you could just go some where else other than holden for a service and ask them to throw the scanner on and delete the codes it should be part of the service the only commodore that some places cant do is the ve but my work can do the ve i scaned one the other day
yes ur right mate. never go to holden otherwise u'll be f.....ck up. man if they want to hook a tech they charge 120$.unbelievable
This is normal DTC programming for nearly every car in the world with On-Board-Diagnostics.
Standard DTC programming says 'If fault does not occur for (*insert number of) engine start cycles, delete current/history code'
*This number varies for all DTCs - anywhere from 10 to 255.
will this remove the airbag light?
no, airbag codes cannot be cleared without the tech 2, for safety reasons...
i just tried to clear my error code history, 100 times is a bit of work,
guys u have to cycle key on off without stopping for 100 times and yes it will clear check engine light unless check engine light will appear again for an existing problem. dnt ever attempt to disconnect the battery for Ur car coz as i mentioned before u will raise heaps of history codes that might been fixed before and delete it on occasion. alright for example if my map sensor is ####ed up and i had a check engine light on now the computer has lodged a current AND A HISTORY CODE WHICH WILL BE SAVED IN THE DTC HISTORY LIST. now if i went to Holden OK and i did replaced my map sensor now what Holden should DO is to CLEAR THE HISTORY CODE FOR THE MAP SENSOR WHICH IS BEEN SAVED IN THE COMPUTER. and they will also clear the current CODE..... now if Holden didn't do that or u just replaced Ur map sensor without clearing the history code the computer will READ WRONG INFORMATION even if the map sensor is new. that why i told u to cycle the key 100 times to save money and time and without disconnecting the battery. actually the map sensor story happened to me exactly. any electronic issue belongs to the engine and sensors after fixing the problem the history code must be cleared from the computer memory. ages ago using a tech2 is must but now its revealed. its been tested on my car with a current and history code and we did the the key cycle 100 times and it did work and then no history codes were found on the tech2.

history codes shouldnt effect the running of the car they are just there so you can see over the last month its had this and that code for when diagnosing issues
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
no mate they do effect otherwise why they do delete history code after every fix. another thing is my car was running like shit after i replaced my map sensor and it was brand new from Holden?????????? this is based on what happened to my car and that's what Holden told after a big argument.
another thing is every time u dis battery alot of trouble codes will show up from know where even if Ur car was running perfect these factory codes must be cleared using tech2 or the key cycle which i mentioned before. and believe me Holden did that on a purpose so that they can get alot of money from customers. another thing did u try once going to an electrician to replace ur flat battery if he was a decent guy he'll first will connect another source of power to ur car to keep memory alive otherwise bye bye go pay some money to Holden to reprogram ur ecu or u will let ur car to learn and maybe this will not happen straight away it will take time maybe up to 2500km. this information is listed in the owner manual as well. and if u went to Holden this is what i did actually, they will reprogram ur ecu to FULL-POWER straightaway this way ur car will not need to learn ur drive style and adjust the fuel mixture bla bla bla...
lol @ all the fairy tales in this thread

all this information is wrong. saying that you need to go to holden to reprogram the ecu if u disconnect the battery is the funniest one!!
Well said Ricey
But for those of us that are NOT Holden technicians as you are, would you care to comment on the 100 click method, disconnecting battery method, what's factual and Urban myth, please?

As for disconnecting battery it does nothing as the codes are stored in memory like your PC and stay there when power is turned off.
