car is VT series II Acclaim
also, just put back me relay and found out that horn's fuse blew
what going on here ??
Horn goes off for no reason?
intermittent horn issue
WTF.....Horn sounding for no reason!!!
Just a few links, follow them and you should have your answer (hopefully). Two of them are for VY's, and ones for a VT, but theres some guys in them with VT's that had the same probllem.
(apparently) there is a Metallic sticker behind the airbag, that crinkles up and shorts out the horn, all you have to do is remove the hornpad/airbag, (AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY, and let it sit for a while) then remove the sticker, and all should be sweet
And the Search function will help you find out how to remove the horn pad, as it did a great job for finding me those links![]()
Thanks for ya help mate but it seem to be that the problems on VY onward ? mine is VT tho..
updated:
just took the centre of the steering off, there is NO a metallic sticker behind the airbag , there is a bar code sticker on the right hand side stick on the contact behind the airbag but it's just the sticker (not metallic)
i think my horn is F*%#ed cause i put the relay back , press the horn and it blew the fuse !
where's the horn located in the engine bay ? do i have to pull anything out to get to the horn ?
Cheers
Yeah, I knew they were VY's but I had a quick read of some of them and there were a few fella's with VT's with similar problems...
Horn is up under the front bumper, should be able to get to it with out taking the bumper off, lay on the ground at the front of the car, under the drivers side headlight. Theres two wires going to it, and a 10mm bolt holding the horn onto the radiator support (?) panel.
You can just test the horn wiht some wire, straight to the battery (with an inlne fuse) just touch the wires on the battery terminals - see if its any good, or if its somewhere else in the circuit.
Good luck with it!!!
Still could not find the first problem (horn went off in the middle of the night) !!
very worry to put me horn relay and fuse back on the car !! and don't like driving with no horn either
Cheers
any other ideas ? or info ?
