    Default break upgrade options?

well i have a vx commodore (ecotec) and i was wondering what break upgrades are available?

are the SS brakes worth the upgrade? what other options are out there..

not a fan of my stock ones... after putting some decent pads on.. they where squeeling, took them back, they fixed it and they squeeled an hour later
the shop then decided to put some bendex pads on and i think they are crap..

ive given up on the shop.

but now i want some new pads and i was thinking depending on the price of bigger brakes might be worth the upgrade.

I believe that all Commodores ran exactly the same brakes, only the HSVs got bigger.

Look at this, VE Twin Piston Upgrade Package suit VB-VZ Commodore!!!

thats disappointing.. thought the SS commodores would have had bigger brakes..

im going to look into other brakes like skyline brakes with adaptors.

anyone know the bolt pattern on holdens?

Just take a look at the link I posted, those are HSV spec (I believe) brakes, you won't get much bigger than that.

EDIT: You need 17" mags just to get those 322mm brakes shoehorned in.

Don't bother spending almost as much as the car is worth. For a decent upgrade for a street car you can't go wrong with slotted rotors and decent pads. If you wanted to go all out you could get slotted and dimpled rotors.

yep im looking at something around the 500 mark...

    skyline r33 gts-t brakes cost about 300. + the adaptors + engineering cert. ~$500

hmmm... slotted rotors.. do they make a difference in performance? know they help with cooling but do they improve braking?

They do help with braking as they help dissapate the heat. No offence but the skyline brakes upgrade is the stupidest thing I have ever heard about brakes.

just use 4000 dba sloted rotors with ebc red stuff pads or bendix ultimate

there is a 5000 series rotor that bolts on to your car but way to much infact im fitting a set today just the front barkes with 5000 rotors and ultimate pads $1400

the 4000's are much better priced it would only cost like 600 with 4000's

Yeah I like slotted rotors, good in the wet too. Hit up GSLRallySport for prices. Slotted rotors and my A1RM pads and my car can pull up really fast.

I do RDA curve slotted and dimpled rotors the same as the rotors in the VE spec upgrade above for $350 for all 4 rotors. Add another $90 for the HPX hi performance pads. I have this exact same setup on our Senator and highly recommend it.

used to have all sorts of poor performance with original vt brakes now have DBA slotted and Bendix heavy duty pads with orginal calipers for last 2 yrs. Work much better, nil fade and not too pricey.

definitely go slotters, I have them and they improve braking dramatically as opposed to stock brakes, the SS ones are exactly the same size, wasn't very impressed when i saw that actually

    PBR Performance

these are a real upgrade but are pricey and are the best

but i would just go the slotted rotors with good pads

i did fit the 5000 dba rotors and will be getting them for my vr $1000 for discs
