Hi, went out briefly in the car this morning and it was fine and then about an hour later when I went to go out the car was dead with no power at all - couldn't even unlock the car with the key remote. No lights were left on and the battery may be 12mths old if that. Not sure if this is related but the last couple of days, a few times while driving or waiting at lights (can happen with or without me using the indicators) it sounds like the indicators have come on themselves as I can hear the indicator clicking sound (very quick clicking sound) but the indicator lights on the dash son't seem to come on when this happens but I'm not sure if the actual indicators come on or if it is a sound only? Also, not sure if this is related, but when accelerating there is an electrical whirring sound (is this normal?) and sometimes when slowing down at lights etc and moving off again the lights dim a bit. Car was fully serviced about a month ago.
Just not sure if this is all related to some sort of computer problem or a simple fuse problem. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
Car is a VT Berlina
Not too sure mate, I'm not so great on mechanics XD (fairly new to cars so trying to learn) but I know when my car died (or so I thought) I had no power to anything, couldnt lock or unlock the car with central locking and it was all due to a loose terminal on the battery or something.. was fixed in about 5 mins :P
Might be a short in the wiring. Something staying on while the car is switched off. Given the indicator problem I would start there. Check the voltage output from the alternator also. Should be about 14 volts.
