Default Pod Filter and Manifold Air Temperature Sensor

I've installed a pod filter on my VT 3.8L V6, I was told it would help keep the stupid thing cool and it would help improve on fuel economy. either way i tap the accelerator and the stupid car takes off like theres no tomorrow?

Just needed to know, how can I get the MAT sensor to work if I've got a pod filter? I can't place a lid over the filter, it wont fit. The bonnet holds the pod filter down (doesnt do any damage to it). How can I get the sensor to get a reading? I keep getting error code 23

Puth the temp sensor in the pipe as close to the throttle body as you can.

I think you'll find that there's a fault with the sensor or wiring.
As long as it's plugged into the wiring harness, the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor will still work, even if it's not pushed inside the intake system. it just won't read accurately as it's not sensing the intake air. Without having it set up properly, you will negate any claimed performance benefits by measuring the hotter engine bay air.
Remove the pod filter and reassemble it back to standard. Don't waste any more money.

I don't see any reason why you can't just cable tie the sensor as close to the pod as you can, that's more or less how the standard panel setup is. But as Not_An_Abba_fan said it's probably better if it's close to the throttle body.

you want that temp sender as close to the filter as possible, so its getting the air at its coolest. Just plumb it into your intake pipe just behind the pod. If the sensor is near the Throttle body the air will have warmed up a little by than. Because the exh is under the pipe and the air itself will cause friction inside the pipe which = heat.

The Intake air temp sensor must be enclosed. Either in side the pod box which you should be running (exposed pods in an engine bay defeat the purpose of a cold air intake) or if you don't have the pod enclosed, like the others said the sensor needs to be in the air stream as close to the initial source of air intake. Best spot is directly after the filter in the intake pipe as this replicates the factory set up as closely as possible
