Hi People,
Im after some info on the Driveline of a VT commodore
what mounts and or joints should be first port of call for upgrade and attention
ie diff, drive shaft , trans
got an annoying thud when changing up and gearing down. its subtle but annoying
it may just be a mount?
engine mounts in the vt are prone to bugger up. had one vt with busted engine mounts everytime i gave it a bootfull i heard a thud noise due t the engine mounts. once changed never made the sound again
A pessimist is a man who thinks all woman are bad. An optimist is a man who hopes they are
Engine mounts have been replaced
along with steering Rack if that has anything to do with the noise
most of the front end has been updated
a list of what else ive done
Link pins
Radius Rod to Chassis Bushes ( changing Radius Rod to Control arm next weekend )
Strut Top mount Bushes
the noise is coming from the rear or mid point of the car
Ive been told the Trans has no error codes
diff is stuffed?
Ive taken it to a garage shop that are diff specialists.
they took it for a drive with me after I explained the noise i was hearing .
he said it wasnt the actual diff. He gave it a fair flogging to, from stand still and planting the foot whilst in 2nd gear and gave it heaps.
He also said you would smell it if the diff was gone.
which leaves me to think its a joints in the driveline. uni joints etc. or mounts
Id just like to know what is common or something that i can fix at home ?
