sorry to ask a silly question, but what can you actually do with these scanners? is it just a connection to your pc which shows you errors or can you modify gear changes etc?

can someone give me a quick run down on them?

shows error codes but allso has a ###ll dashboard with every sensors output on it which makes troubleshooting easy sometimes sensors wont spit error codes untill well after they are toast and can be spotted on the display.you can also buy another special board to go in the ecu that lets you alter the whole tune via the aldl plug under the stearing colomn while driving

the VR and VS predate the introduction of OBD2

i don't like holden either but unless they had a time machine there's no way that could put obd2 in the VR/VS
