This is aimed at people with a manual VX.
Jus the other day, i was about to buy a manual VX which are rare, until the deal fell through. Anyway, my mechanic told me that it's better if i don't get a manual because it would be hard to find parts for things to do with the transmission if they wreck since there aren't many around that are manual.
Has anyone had problems getting parts? I definetly don't want ot have to get an auto.
mate your mechanic is so much full of shit its not funny, ive got a manual. altho ive never had to buy any parts for the gearbox i can asure you it will never be to hard to find parts for it.

Dude, no offence, but ur mechanic is a dick. For starters, the only way parts would be harder to find is if you go 2nd hand for parts. And IF (thats IF) you are unlucky enough to need gearbox parts, you wouldnt want to buy 2nd hand anyway. There is plenty of genuine and after market new parts available. If you want manual, buy a manual dude!!
Also, not to mention the sheer number of VT-VY commodores on the road. Parts will be available for quite some time. Think of all the people who are able to keep VL's running
Your(FORMER) mechanic is full of shite... you can still buy new gearboxes from Holden/Hollmart and any reputable/good gearbox shop will have all the parts to rebuild it.
I've got a manual VX and due to a "20c part" breaking had to get a new clutch at 90k. I had more options than the stock standard clutch I could put in it made my head spin.
