As the title says, the VT keeps unlocking itself? Sitting in the shed last night and i heard the car unlock, checked the keys inside, nothing was pressing the buttons or anything, the keys where also out of range. Locked it and went and sat back down and bugger me it unlocked. This went on until i locked it and went inside making sure the keys where definately out of range. This morning i get up and the car's unlocked?
Anyone had this before?
Can i temporarily disable the remote so as i can just use the key till i get it sorted?
Cheers, Darren.
OK i can pull the fuse to stop it unlocking and use the key on the drivers door.
Looked like it was the key unlock, you know where you turn the key in the drivers door and they all unlock, however pulled the door card off and unplugged it and still unlocked itself.
So have eliminated the key and now the door, BCM or wiring somewhere?
Would it be best to go to Holden or an Auto Elec do you think?
Daz.
Have you checked that your door lock knobs are going all the way down when you lock it? My VY did this one night and I think it was a door lock knob sticking, so that the car thinks that someone is manually unlocking it from inside and thus all the doors unlock. Just lock it with the remote and check that all knobs are all the way down.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
I have the same problem but the car does not unlock immediately, usually if I park it and lock with the remote, at night or at the shops, come back and it is unlocked. The door buttons appear to be all the way down when I leave the car. Is there any chance that stray RF signals from other sources could be doing this? Just an aside, my remote has a range of about 10 metres or more as opposed to the 4 metres indicated in the owners manual. Is this unusual?
No, ten meters is quite average, some will work even further away than that. I doubt stray signals are causing it to occur. If not the door lock knobs, then maybe BCM?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Not wanting to hijack the thread but I am getting another bcm, matching key and a few other items soon.
Well, took the car over to a mates today to watch the GF and she never even looked like unlocking. Must be a stray signal in the driveway, have unplugged the roller door, it is remote. Se how we go tonight.
Maybe one of your neighbors is using some device to listen to the frequency when pressing the unlock button, and is just playing with you.
Hey I saw it happen on some movie with a roller door. And you know how real everything in movies are![]()
It was the bloody roller door remote? WTF.......Anyway all good now!
HAHA thats very interesting, Who would have thought? now go try and see what else it opens lol

This is true, and it has what's called a rolling code. Every time the remote is used, it sends the next code on the pre-programmed list of numbers. The BCM works off the same list. When a new remote is programmed to the car, this code list is one of the things that's synchronised with the BCM.
All this to stop 'universal remote controls/code grabbers' that are commercially available.
