OK , I have to put a new intake manifold gasket on my VX V6 . Just wanted to know what price will i be looking at for one and what brand should i go for or are they all much the same . Also what other parts will i need ? I was told something about coolant supply tubes and replacing the O rings , do these come with the gasket set or do you have to buy them seperately ?
Ive done a few manifolds over the years in V8 s and 6 ,s but not a V6 ( yet )
Thanks in advance Dave

I bought a set from Bursons about a year ago for a VN V6. Just asked for intake manifold gaskets and walked out with a set. Intake manifold gaskets, valley seals, throttle body and plenum gaskets and an o-ring. The o-ring wasnt needed for the S2 motor but the lot was around $50 give or take.
Ok thanks for that . Might give it a go next weekend

$50? bloody bargain..
i were guna suggest mace's store (where i got mine from a few weeks ago) there the metal ones and are re-usable and last forever, but there $110 for valley gaskets and rubber end bits .. which was the cheapest i could find anywhere for a vt.... and postage was next day delivery..
..
the o-rings- i had to replace them on the coolant pipes as mine leaked with re-using the old ones. just got a box of assorted ones from supercheap for $10 and was enough to do what ever ones needed replacing
I just bought the intake gasket set for $80 from Autobarn . I wet to supercheap to find the fuel line quick release tool cos autobarn didn't have them in stock and the guy at supercheap said you can only get them from Holdens spare parts . Then he proceded to open some boxes of fuel filters to see if they came with the filter .Told him that i needed the tool for the fuel lines in the engine bay again he said you cant buy them so as i was walking out i seen them hanging up for $15 a set . Don't you just love Super cheap lol
I also done a compression test and they all came up at around 1200 kpa which i suppose is ok . Does anyone know what they should be ?

First you need a compression tester , mine cost about 50 bucks . Then go for a drive to get the motor up to normal operating temp . Then pull out all the spark plugs , screw the tester into the spark plug hole and turn the motor over and watch the needle on the tester . It should reach the maximum compression after the motor turns over about 4 times . Repeat this on the other 5 cylinders . Make sure you write down the readings for each cylinder then compare the results. Just make sure you remove the relay from the fuel pump before you start . ( and keep some burn cream handy when you sizzle you fingers on the exhaust .)
