    Post Which Performance Fuel Pump???

Heya, need a little help with picking a performance fuel pump for a VX v6supercharge.. Got 17Psi boost, intercooled and a whole lotta other stuff... just need a bit of fuel to get it all happening properly..
Im after an intank pump which will replace the original pump alone, i've got a brand new Walbro GSS342 intank replacement pump, I know these fit VN - VS intank pumps, does anyone know if they are they compatible with the VX system?
I've also got a brand new Bosch 044 600+ HP inline pump but would prefer not to spend anymore setting that up, hence after an intank replacement pump and sell the bosch pump.... if anyone is interested in that also, will sell for cheap hehe..
    Thanks!

The L67 fuel pump is a highly capable fuel pump IMO. It has a built in swirl pot and runs rotor vane impellers. If you already have an 044 then a surge tank such as one of these will do nicely. aluminium surge tank with hose tails drift drag race - eBay Other, Performance Parts, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 01-Oct-10 16:50:01 AEST) or ally surge tank with 4 hose tails + bosch fuel bracket - eBay Other, Performance Parts, Car, Truck Parts, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 01-Oct-10 16:50:05 AEST)

You could easily swap your supply and return fuel line under the car to the fire wall with the LS1 3/8th lines (ours are 5/16th). Gen3 runs a supply only so just buy 2 and make them work as supply n return.

If you can't afford injectors as well then a band aid solution is to fit a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and by increasing the fuel pressure you can get a few more ponies from the stock 36lb/hr squirters. Also check out Zappers fuel rails on http://esprit.gatewaybbs.com.au/~vrt...ec_v6_fuel.htm

The whole thing about modifying a street car is to utilise as much OEM equipment as possible. In other words, if it aint broke don't fix it kinda thing.

Oh, forgot to add: if you are playing with the fuel system and it's pressure you may need to have your tune looked at as the fueling can be altered by doing so and trow the tuners commanded AFRs out.

BTW, do you relly have 17psi in the manifold?

logged out when attempting sending a large thread, now gotta retype it =/
    Went something like this:
    Thanks for the insight!
chargedvx6, do you know whats involved in setting up the surge tank you mentioned with the 044 as I got no experience with surge tanks hence why I was originally looking into an intank replacement pump.
Supply line from fuel tank to ---> surgetank to ---> bosch 044 pump then to ----> fuel rail somewhere along the line using the LS1 3/8th lines you mentioned for supply and return back to ---> the surge tank and possibly a breather out of the surge tank? As it says there's 4 'hose tails'? on the tank, i take it they are input/output of fuel?
As soon as everything is fitted, cars going straight to a performance workshop, having a haltech computer fitted and getting dyno tuned to sort out all AFRs and get the most out of it..
And yeh, got a standard M90 s/charger with a little 17Psi pulley on the end so I make the assumption the little fella is supplying the manifold with 17Psi heheh.. Just cant put a time on the engine life with that typa boost.. Purchased alot of the engine upgrade stuff I got fitted from Forced Induction Technologies at V6 Performance Australia - V6 Power Parts and recommend them to anyone looking at upgrading ecotec or L67 engines as they got alot of good bolt-on upgrades..
    Cheers!

When I was playing with my turboed EL (I know...different ball game), the number one piece of advice I was given from tuners was to stay away from Walbro 255's (GSS341/342), apparently they have a very high failure rate and are not up to high pressure systems.

The pump I was reccomended was a Bosch 023 (the intank version of the 044).

I ended up going the 044 External with the factory pump feeding a swirl pot mounted in the boot. Worked well

    A quick google revealed this:

    023 (in tank) 168L/Hr (5 bar) Max 550HP
    040 (in tank) 102L/Hr (6.5 bar) Max 330HP

Edit: I might be slightly wrong on the 023 being the intake version of the 044...Time to keep reading (I'm 99% sure it was though!)

Im running a walbro intank in my VY and pushing over 330rwkw so yeah they do work.
Best to run a surge tank with 044 pump for max performance and protection from lean outs otherwise you need to run half a tank of fuel due to poor swell pot design.
Expensive setup tho but is the best method.

If your selling that inline 044 cheap PM me how cheap and i may think about it

Depends what fuel pressure you are running as to whether a walbro will be any use.

I was using a 12:1 FMU in the EL

Blown 10gs+ on everything else so looking at upgrading the fuel system enough to support around expected 350kw at the engine at the cheapest price at this point, car is just sitting there waiting for me to finish it which i plan on doing within the next 2-3 weeks.. So any suggestions on what intank pump to use that will fit with minimal to no modifications, had a few drunk nights with a credit card on ebay and ended up with 2 brand new high performance pumps that didnt just fitup to my car lol.. So if there is an intank replacement pump for a VX to support atleast 450+kw im interested as fuel pumps are designed to support alot more than required fuel supply.. and yeh, if I find whats best for my car at cheapest, happy to flog my 044 and gs342 pumps for pretty cheap!
Oh on another note. anyone know a good dynotuner in the sydney area for L67 v6 supercharged, cause I've spoken to about 10 or more different places, noone seems to know what they're talking about and prices range from 1800 to 3000+ for dyno + computer fitted.. After someone with experience with L67s, apparently they're hard to tune??!

Frankly if you've spent 10grand on the motor, I wouldnt skimp on the fuel system.

I have a Walbro intank pump and external T rex mini pump and am still running out of fuel. Decided to fit a surgetank and twin 044's.
