    Default Quick VX headunit question

Hey guys, refer to this topic: Rear Speaker/Door Card Issues *Help Needed*

    I want to take the headunit out, check the wiring and put it back in without fuss.. But I've got a few questions before I do;
    - Will the alarm go off? If so how do I stop this?
    - If not, will it require a PIN when i put it back in? The previous owner didn't give me one.
    - Any other info that I need to know before I do this?

I have instructions on how to take it out, but I need to know the above before I do.

    Cheers

Not sure about the alarm but I know you'll have to input your pin in when you connect it back up.

You can get the PIN from Holden. They'll charge you for it though. $30 or something like that.
You'll need it sooner or later anyway, if the battery goes flat you'll need it then.

PIN is reqd when you put back the radio.
Alarm will not go off, unless you have an aftermarket alarm fitted.
Holden will charge $XX if you need to retrieve your PIN from them but if you know where the car was originally bought you can ring the dealership and they can give it to you for free.

If you are just replacing your Headunit, all you need is 2 wiring harness (eg. Pioneer to Universal, Universal to Commodore). If single DIN stereo you'll need a spacer for it.
You might need to bypass wiring to make the aerial work.

if you dont have the pin, you can pull the headunit out without unplugging the loom..

you remove the glvoebox, remove the little kick panel (3 screws around the glove box area and one down near the seat)
then the headunit wires run through there, cut the cable tie holding the loom in place and remove the headunit.. you should be able to bring the unit about 20-30cm's out of it hole

Do you have speakers in your rear doors??

If not, leave the headunit alone and take the rear door panel off and connect up a speaker and turn the radio on - you'll soon see if they are connected.
