Default kw increase / fuel economy

I was just wondering what I should expect with getting a dyno tune/edit with regards to fuel economy and kw increase for a stock standard VX Gen III. Thanks in anticipation.......

Hey mate i take it you want a mafless tune???
IMO your better off doing a couple of things first like an exhaust an OTR
because if you get it tuned(mafless) then add things later you will have to get it retuned more money but if your gonna keep it stock the gains will most likely be minimal an really not worth the money spent .
jus my 2 cents others may have a different view.

If your keeping it stock, you should get a nice little gain from a maf tune.

Just had a maf tune/edit done. Freaking unbelievable.... Its a "NEW CAR", 25rwkw difference . . . Cannot believe the extra power and fuel economy... I honestly dont think I need to do any more . . I am a happy camper.... The money IMHO was very well spent....

Good stuff, glad you're happy with the result. But as DLFHUB666 said, fair chance you'll get over the 25rwkw increase pretty quick. You'd probably fall over with delight if you had all the bolt on mods and a tune done.

Where did you get the tune done and how much if you don't mind me asking?

i got a mafless tune done about a month ago... fuel economy is better (50-100kms more out of a tank)
i have extractors, exhaust and had ss inductions - power was 197rwkw - before tune
when tuned, got rid of the ss inductions, went a VCM OTR - power was 235wrkw - after tune

It's money worth spent IMO, the car feels completely different, more responsive, big increase in torque!

as said above, your better off doing exhaust etc before getting it done so you don't have to get it tuned twice.

^^ $990 is the average price for tune only
OTR prices vary, don't go a cheap plastic one from ebay.. but the well made ones (dus, vcm, ramjet etc) are all around $550-$650
You can even look on the ls1 forums cause a few people get bored of the power and go a blower or turbo setup and sell their OTR's at good prices.

So 1000 for the tune on average and what does it involve? And what's a ORT?

Maf tune $900> sounds about right .
They take out your pcm hook it up to a computer an change all the settings to get the most out of it.
An OTRCAI is an Over The Radiator Cold Air Intake. An aftermarket intake system

Most tuners write the tune on their laptop then flash the tune to the car via the OBD plug under the steering wheel. They can also 'live tune' by driving with the laptop plugged in and making adjustments on the go. (This is done with you driving and the tuner with the laptop in the passenger seat, and/or when the car is on the dyno).

I stand corrected. Thanks wikky i just assumed (i know i shouldnt have) they took out the PCM to tune it didnt think of the OBD2 port .
