Probably bad/dirty/impeded contacts in the actual steering wheel, take off the airbag and have a look.

First you disconnect the battery, then give about 30 min, so people say a few minutes is fine, but I say better safe than sorry, then disconnect the airbag fuse for good measure. Then there are 4 clips on the back of the steering wheel, use a screwdriver or two you undo those and the airbag pops off.

Definitely a good precaution since an airbag deploys with enough force to break your neck it your head is right next to the airbag. Food for thought LOL.

Worn away contacts, mine did the same thing. Get some solder and build the surface back up. Works a treat. Easy as pie, takes like 5 minutes.

Actually funny thing is that I went to use my horn today, and mine was very reluctant to go off. Coincidence, or life with a warped sense of humor?

Nope, then you have to worry about getting the steering wheel off and then perfectly centering the new one. Just get to the contacts and re-cover them in solder.

These VT-VX horns were like that. would get warm and soft in summer, then hard and cold in winter. some people would walk to their car after shopping only to find their battery died. and likely it was a stuck horn.. this happen to me one summers night. watching movie and in between some loud fight scenes i hear this sound. i pause the movie and it was my horn. since this was the first time it had happen, i was thinking was it the alarm. no, it was the padding pressing on the contacts for the horn. it's one poor design really. no wonder people want to change to the VY wheels.
