    Default Just a question guys

    Hey all...
a question relating to my vt,
it seems to be leaking a little bit of oil around the rocker cover..
does that mean i just need some new sealant around it or is it a more serious problem?
    thanks,
    kc

New gaskets should fix the problem. They leak as the get old.

if oil is coming down the front of the motor or the back middle for that matter (under coil packs could be valley gaskets aswell) valleys are very common on vt so are rocker cover gaskets
you COULD just do the easy thing and tighten the bolts until FIRM with kilometers they always comes loose on vt's

db_notso, would it serve any purpose to install shake proof washers under the heads of the rocker cover bolts?

well you are supposed to replace the bolts on the inlet manifold when you do the valleys, but if you clean the old bolts and use loctite/threadlocker to the bolts and tighten them evenly it normally wont leak for a very long time after that...

on the rockers to fit spring washers can be done but is a pain to do as they are semi attached bolts, just do the bolts all up tight and even then wash it off. rockers gaskets are just really common to need to be done on ecotec motors.
