    sounds like a immobiliser issue....
anyways no crank checks are simple to do

possible causes=a low battery can cuase lights to come on and no crank, key failure, slip ring failure (where key goes in around that is some metal), ecu failure, starter failure relay failure, fuse failure

    BASIC CHECKS
check battery = try to jumpstart
check fuses in under bonnet fuse box (just check all of them
check terminals are on starter motor (one little one slides on is your crank signal to the starter (and come loose frequently) big one is main power dont over thighten this!!

    cant fix with above?
if relay no click get codes (look it up how to section or tow to workshop)

    please note:
generally a warning on the dash is caused by a fault code so you may want to skip all the rest apart from jump battery and go straight to holden/or diagnostic trouble codes
    hope this helps

check the power and neg to the ECU
check your fault codes (if you don't get 12 flashes a sign the ECU is not responding)
is this 3 window or single display?
what exactly does the message say

also go into engineering mode on the display and check for current trouble codes especially serial data and module faults

Its a single window display and comes up SERVICE ERROR i tried to bridge number 5&6 pin on the diag plug but didnt come up with any codes not even 12 so the computer could be at fault, where are the wires (power and neg) to the ecu??? Holden told me it was a serial data or module fault

does your remote unlocking indicators etc work. these are controlled by BCM
sounds like your dash works OK fuel gauge etc, these are controlled by the display
Engine running , starting is controlled by ECU (PCM)
Does your red immobilizer LED flash when you try to start?
Sounds like your ECU has issues. the ECU is behind Left kick panel
    check fuses first
under steer column fuse 13, fuse 14,
check fuse engine bay fuse 31, fusible link FS ( feeds fuse 31) so if 31 has power FS is ok

doors unlock and lock by the remote and immobilizer light goes out when go to start then blinks again so assuming bcm is ok,
next i couldnt get any error codes out of the pcm by bridging pin 5&6 couldnt even get code 12
all the fuses are fine but going to go out and tripple check now, disconnected the pcm checked all plugs and wiring seem to be fine
I think i have a pcm issue aswell. its been 3 days of throubleshooting without the tech 2 im goin to tow it to holden if i cant work it out by tommorow but will post what it was in the end

    thanks lout

never assume anything with cars they will sneak up and ass r**e you
    now k.i.s.s
check every fuse you can find anywhere... e.g. reverse light fuse in some rodeos powers fuel pump (yeah i know huh?)
next take battery off and press the brake pedal leave it for 30 seconds reconnect and try again.

if taking battery off fixes it was LIKELY a locked up ecu if none of the above fixes it you need an ecu pressence check done this is available at your dealer or someone with a good scan tool (i just took mine to the dealer)

mine had a failed ecm once it wouldnt start but everything else worked and had a code in immobiliser that said no com's ecu which doesnt come up in engineering mode!~
but should come up if you bridged the wires unless no signal which means a module is pulling the network in your car out, hence pressence check!~

your getting into the hard stuff after that mate, if this and what i previously posted doesnt work you need to tow it somehwere soz if that happens!~

Hi mate, did you have any luck with your commodore? I have a written off vt that im putting all the running gear into an old kingswood ute, it was running fine in the car but now I have taken it out & set it up on the garage floor I have the same problem as you, wont crank & serv error on the dash! If I quickly flick the key from off to start it will crank for a couple seconds, give a splutter & die but if I allow the self check to do its thing before hitting the start position I get nothing. Im stumped & cant exactly tow it to a garage lol

Same problem here, did you end up figuring out what was at fault?
