On the rear screen theres just 1 strip along the bottom im pretty sure and the sides mouldings overlap that and run up and over the roof aswell as 1 strip.

let us know how u go as i need 2 replace my bottom strip coz it has the crinkle in the middle but not sure if the screen needs 2 b removed just 2 replace it?

okay mate will do, on my neighbours it looks like a little connector piece, so im going to goto the wreckers and see if i can score them just to fill in the gaps.

You can get the little 90° pieces at Holden, i replaced mine at the end of '09 they were still available then, weren't expensive (the two roof moulds were though let me tell you!).

EDIT: i just found the part number for the RH end cap - it's 92111720 cost $5.25 incl GST as at 20 Oct 09. I don't have the LH part number but it'd be similar to that.

Okay thank you! That was extremely helpful! How do I put it on? Do I have to replace any of the surroundings?

I think they put on a small blob of windscreen sealant or sikaflex etc on it and tape it down until it dries. You don't have to replace anything else. The bottom window seal is glued in with the window (i think) like the front windscreen seal, so you don't have to touch that at all.

Apparently the end cap part was updated some time during the VT or VX production run, as a lot of these end caps were coming off prematurely (particularly when the boot lid was opened, as happened on mine). Holden fixed this by adding a small tab at the top (that slots in under the end of the roof mouldings) to hold them in place more securely etc. The part number i mentioned in post #4 is for these "modified" end caps (the original ones were deleted etc). But if you can't get the small tabs to slot in under your roof mouldings, then you could just cut them off, as they are not seen once the end caps are fitted/glued in place. Hard to explain, but once you see them you'll see what i mean.

I replaced both my roof mouldings and both end caps with all new ones and at the same time, so it was easier for me nothing had to be modified.

If you get some off a wreck most likely they'll be the original "non-modified" type without tabs etc.

If it's just the end caps you're replacing then yes. If the top tabs won't fit just cut them off. Other that that the end caps just sit in place & only need to be attached somehow (glue/sealant etc).

Don't use silicone (some of these may sweat & encourage rust etc) use windscreen sealant & be careful not to use too much.

We urathane (sikaflex) them on at work. Just tape them down nice and tight for a few hours. Overnight would be best.

I can't picture how the commodore ones sit exactly, but sometimes it helps to roll up a little ball of tape, sit that on top, then tape over that nice and tight so it pulls the whole lot down better...I think that explaination makes sense

thanks for the application advice, you could probably get away with using painters tape because of the low adhesive.

We use masking tape. It should be right if you don't leave it on there for more than a day or so, and don't leave it in the sun too long. So, overnight is ideal
