My VT passenger rear door will not stay closed. Will not even catch. Try to close it and it bounces open again. I may have to change the lock mechanism as it seems that it is broken. I know how to get the trim card off but how do I get the locking mechanism out?
Their are 3 torque bit screws around the lock mechanism undo them also 2 rods one for the inner door handle and one for the lock button undo the clips holding these and the rods will pull out (you may be able to leave these on and pull the mechanism out can't remember off the top of my head) then unplug the wiring pulg at the base of the lock and the lock should come out.
Be sure when replacing that the outer door handle rod slips back into its seat on the mechanism the handle has a white plastic sharft that goes into the green seat on the mechanism. Otherwise the handle wont work..
Reverse the top instructions and besure to test the lock befor shutting the door by clicking the lock mechanism shut with a screw drive and the using the outer door handle to see that it pops open again
then wind you window down and shut the door and try your locks and inside door handle.
Also remember to try your key lock button to see that the central locking is working befor you put the trim back on. It's easy to forget to plug the wiring back in
note: If inside door handle is not working you may have the child lock switch on.
Hope this is helpful
AZZ.22Y, thanks for that. Will be in to it as soon as I get a replacement locking mechanism.
