Hey, was wondering if anyone has converted their non supercharged VT to supercharged with all factory parts from a sc VT.
Do the wreckers sell all the parts as a conversion kit?
Do I require an ECU from sc vt to provide the appropriate tune?
Can I stick with the standard injectors I already have?
Cheers
basically the only part that is the same in both engines is the block. the internals heads intake loom ecu and everything else is different.
There's a fair few differences between then normal Ecotec and L67. It's not as easy as chucking the supercharger on and ECU. If you can find an L67 with loom etc. then it will make the conversion a lot easier.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Sounds like it might be in the too hard basket for my liking.
Is it possible to bolt the sc gear on the engine and get some gains out of the ecotec, leaving everything else stock? Im not looking for 200rwkw, just want to give the thing a bit more.
cheers guys.
Just source L67 engine, ecu, loom and you will be rocking. The ecu will need to be handshaked to the bcm of course. You can even have a supercharged chip burnt to run from the standard ecotec ecu which will delete the dual speed fuel control unit mounted in the boot of L67 cars but then you will need to play around with the ecotec loom to make it work with the L67 engine.

If you cant do it without changing to the L67 engine, I don't think I will go through with it.
I think I will look into some N/A upgrades to the Ecotec.
Thanks guys.
Hey guys well it snot that hard ,just go to l67 torque a few guys on there have done the swaps 2 l36 and running hi boost and wou will have to swap the whole top end over heads, exhaust manifolds ,and engine loom with the ecu you dont have to swap your ecu as the l36 and l67 run the same ecu just in the wiring that why you swap the engine loom ,but you will hav eto get a chip to suit the l67 supercharged as they wont run on the l36 chip. I know you dont have to swap ecu because i did my big end bearing in my l67 so while im rebuilding it i put a l36 with engine loom and i got a ecu with that and when i put the ecu that come with motor it wouldnt start so i put my ecu in that was running the supercharged motor and swap the chips over a bingo it started so you keep you ecu just need to swap your chip so you dont have to get it link with bcm but it not that hard to convert the l36 with all the parts look on ebay theres a few complete top end conversions going on the from $1000.
just buy a raptor supercharger kit from tim for the standard ecotec like most of us have already done.

IMO it's easier and smarter to remove the perfectly good ecotec and replace it with a perfectly good L67. Sell the ecotec and it works out as a $1000 - $1500 engine swap.
Doing an L67 top swap to and ecotec is a hell of a lot of work and there is room for error in setting things up..............especially if you aren't all that familiar with an L67.

I have just swapped my L67 to L36 becuz of the P plater rules, and the ignition wont work, the fuel pump still works and pumps fuel through but the ignition wont turn the starter motor. And when we short the starter motor it will fire but just imediately shuts down. We just put the Ecotech Loom and computer in, do you think putting the L67 computer with the ecotech MEMCAL will work for me like you did?
