decided to get a replacement engine due to be put in over next couple days from a wrecker. did not get a re-con, just gettin one put in from a vt that had a computer issue and its done 120,000kms. paying 1400, worth risking not getting a re-con or 120 kms is trust worthy enough? im desperate to get back on the road so i didnt hesitate to say "yes" to the only ecotec the wrecker had.
is that $1400 fitted
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
yeh fitted
Whats wrong with the original motor? Blown/craacked head, or just the gasket?
If its just the gasket and you know your way around a toolbox it could be easily fixed for less than that?
the head has blown, whole engine is flooded, exhaust spitting fluid and thick white fumes, its completly ####ed car wont even start now as it doesnt produce enough power
Yeah, but all that could be down to a head gasket...
Essentially nothing wrong with the motor. Just a gasket...Seriously.
EDIT: Where abouts are you?
so what would be the telltail sign of the head being blown as opposed to just the gasket? Perth
Ehh, too far to travelIm over East Coast...
Mmm, really only pulling the head off and checking. V6 are known for doing head gaskets, pretty common, same with a few other things...
But, if you pull the heads off, you cantake them to a head specialist/engine builder/reconditioner to go over and check the heads, and make theres no cracks and check they're flat/deck/machine them.
If no cracks, get it decked/serviced, new gasket, maybe new bolts (if needed?) and put it all back together.
Might be cheaper to do that first, might save you a couple of bucks.
