    Question What needs to be changed/done to fit a by engine in my vt??? Plz help

    Hi I'm in need of help asap I have a 1998 vt an I have got a vy engine to replace my old one but I only hear different views from every person I talk to what changes need to be made I've Been told i have to Take the sump off the vt an put on the vy motor is there more changes ???please help as i need to change these why motors asap thanx ltfry

    I don't think there would be too many things to change. I had a look at my VX and my sons VY and they are virtually the same , even the sumps look similar

    The motors are exactly the same. Should be a case of direct plug and play.
    VX2 Executive Sedan - 3.8L Auto (for now)
    VT SS Sedan - Supercharged V6 Auto (Genuine L67 SS)
    VN SS Sedan - 5.0L 5 Speed Manual (Currently Balga spec waiting for panel and paint)

    the loom is probably a bit different but a competant sparky can cut and shut

    Loom will be wired differently to the ECU but the plugs in the actual engine bay will be the same. Won't need to swap the ECU for a VY motor to work in a VT though it just won't have the few extra kilowatts the VY ECU gives it.

    sorry for noob question, but engines are the same, could you simply put a VY ecu in, and it will give your VT motor more KW?
