gearbox

hmm i know this is the wrong part to post this but i assume all gearbox's work the same, my grandfather has a 1998 subaru liberty FWD and it is a auto, he always turns the engine off while it is still in drive, can this hurt the gearbox or anything?

shouldnt hurt the gearbox... but generally speaking... you PARK your car then turn it off. so put the car in park, then kill ignition. You have to put it into park / neutral to start the car anywya, so do it properly!
