hey guys,
i own a vx s 5speed manual and do a shitload of highway driving but i hate having my car doing 2600 revs for extended time. had a look at gear ratio mods but dont wanna lose too much bottom end to gain top end. i was wondering how much i would be looking to convert it into a 6 speed and how difficult it would be to do. also if there are any other mods i could do as an alternative.
any answers would help
cheers guys.
what speed are you at doing 2600 rpm cos im running with 4.11 ratio and on the hwy doing 100km/h im sitting at 2500rpm
if your doing 100km/h on the hwy your car revs should be around 1200 to 1500
"your revs should be around 1200 to 1500" No they shouldn't. The 6 speed has nice short gears on 1 2 and 3 while the 6th gear is really tall
and I don't see why it wouldn't drop your revs by around 250-300. Price wise, you won't get much if any change from $3000, and the man to talk
to is Mal Wood, he does conversion kits that come with everything you need, and because you're going from manual to manual the conversion should
be relatively simple. But you should get more opinions, and talk to mechanics, a professional opinion will be better than from someone who's only real
experience is having a 5 speed VX and a subscription to Street Commodores for close to 6 years.![]()

Im pretty sure you cant use the LS1 6speed on a ecotech, regardless if its auto/manual
